May Spotlight – Odell’s Brewing
It must be May. It has finally stopped snowing
the grass is green and beer is the drink of choice.
Cold, delicious, and cheap is what you want. All
May, we will have special pricing of a dollar or
more off on the fine beers from our friends in
Fort Collins. It does not matter if it comes in a 4
pack, a 6 pack, or a 12 pack it will be on the
deal. Odell’s next seasonal St. Lupulin, a
mystical legend echoes in the Odell’s brew house
– that of St. Lupulin (loop-you-lin) the
archetypal hophead. He devoted endless
summers to endless rows of hops,
tending to the flowers and the
beloved resin within – lupulin
(minute yellowish-brown hairs
obtained from the strobili of the
hop plant, formerly used in
medicine as a sedative.).
Extraordinary oils in this yellow
resin provide this dry-hopped extra
pale ale with an undeniably pleasing
floral aroma and clean, crisp finish.
One sip of this seasonal summer ale
and you too. Available May through
September. Along with the St. Lupulin we
carry the rest of Odell’s fantastic line up: Mercenary,
Lugene Chocolate Milk Stout, Double Pilsner, 90
Shilling, Cut Throat Porter, IPA, 5 Barrel Pale Ale,
Levity, and Easy Street Wheat not to mention a host
of their exquisite bombers.

Winery Focus
Simply Naked $8.99
As Spring evolves into Summer, we felt
light, crisp, flavorful, and un-manipulated
wines would be what we wanted to drink.
The Simply Naked brand, while launched in
2011, has really been popular with our
customers. All of the wines are fermented in stainless, and all
you taste is the fresh, clean fruit. When the wine maker does not
have the option of altering flaws in the wine, the grapes need to
be superior in quality.
This was the brainchild of Constellation Brands, a large
company that creates and builds wine brands. While not a
“family-run” winery, the concept works. Constellation hired
wine maker Ryan Flock, a long-time, well-known Sierra Foothills
wine maker, to spear-head Simply Naked. When asked about
making un-oaked wines he stated, “Seeking out the vineyards to
match this vibrant style has been extremely exciting. “We’re
continually searching for superb fruit to make wines that truly
express the inherent flavor of the grape in the absence of oak.
Making this style of wine has been a very refreshing change of
pace as a winemaker.”
Naked released new varietals just in time for our promotion.
Along with the Chardonnay and Cabernet, check out the
Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Grigio, and Moscato. These will soon be
your go-to pool wine, or the ideal porch-pounder.
Located in beautiful Bend, Oregon, Deschutes

Featured Chardonnay
Hess $9.99
All Patron Tequila 750 ml. $10.00 OFF
In 1978, Donald Hess founded the
Hess Collection Winery on Mount
Veeder, 2,000 feet above the Napa
Valley. A total believer in biodynamic
farming practices, Hess wine makers
use very little human intervention in
the wine making process.
This Chardonnay fruit comes from
Monterey. Monterey’s cooling fog and
coastal breezes create an ideal climate for
growing Chardonnay, yielding wines with
tantalizing tropical notes and crisp
acidity. The core of this wine comes from
the Hess 352-acre Shirtail Creek estate
vineyard in Monterey’s coastal valley.
An ideal spring delight, this wine has
aromas of green apples and pineapple,
leading into a palate of fresh apples and
pears. The mid-palate has a touch of
toasty oak, but the well-balanced acidity
keeps this refreshing. The finish has a
surprising zest with a crisp, fruit-forward
finish.
This whole line of wine is superior
quality, and this Chardonnay is special. It
took some arm twisting, but we managed
a quantity discount, so enjoy the fruits of
Hess and our efforts for the beginning of
summer.
Tequila is the fermented juice of the agave plant. It’s double distilled,
aged in wood casks, and the national drink of Mexico. Tequila has
three grades. The Silver is aged for only 60 days, and is hot and fieryfor only $39.95. The Reposado is aged up to one year,
and is smooth and mixable- for only $44.95
The Anejo is aged for one to three years and has
tones of butterscotch and vanilla. Most love to sip
this one- for only $49.95
These are sure to put a big smile on Dad’s face.

Recipe of the Month
Bottle o’ Beer Chicken Thighs
It’s time to dust off the grill!
1- bottle of lager beer
¼ cup Dijon mustard
3 TBSP extra virgin olive oil
6 thinly sliced scallions
2 thinly sliced garlic cloves
1 TBSP Worcestershire sauce
1 tsp. kosher salt
½ tsp. fresh ground black pepper
¼ tsp. Tabasco sauce
8 chicken thighs
For marinade, whisk together all ingredients except chicken. Trim the thighs of any
excess skin and fat. Place in a large resealable plastic bag, and pour in the marinade.
Press the air out of the bag and seal tightly. Turn the bag to distribute the marinade.
Place in a bowl, and refrigerate for 6 to 8 hours. Remove the thighs from the bag
and discard the marinade. Pat dry with paper towels and grill over direct medium
heat. Skin side down first, turning every five minutes. Grill until meat next to the
bone is opaque, about 20 minutes. Serve warm. Makes 4 servings.
