Sat or Truth is that which is permanent. We must live our lives based upon Truth. The world is impermanent and therefore it’s called Asat, meaning ‘changing’. So man has to give up thinking that the world he sees around him is the whole Truth and is permanent. 2. Darkness signifies ignorance. Jyothi is the Light of Wisdom. Man has to get rid of ignorance and with the Light of Wisdom he has to know that his Real Self is the unchanging Atma within him. 3. Just as the waves finally merge into the ocean, we who are as waves of the Divine, pray that we fulfill the goal of our life and merge into the ocean of immortality. AUMKAARAM BINDU SAMYUKTAM Aumkaaram bindu samyuktam Nityam dhyaayanti yoginaha Kaamadam mokshadam chaiva Aumkaaraaya namo namaha Aumkaaram = the sound of Aum, symbol of God Bindu = dot, a drop Samyuktam = united with, joined Nityam = always Dhyaayanti = meditate Yoginaha = ascetics, sages, rishis Kaamadam = desire, love for God Mokshadam = liberation Chaiva = to worship, acts, grant Aumkaaraaya = Aum is the very symbolic sound of Brahma Namo = pray Namaha = bow The yogis always meditate upon the Aumkaar with the Bindu(dot). We bow down to the Aumkaar (Eternal One) that grants our desires and gives us liberation. Aum is the sound symbol of God. The Bindu representing the individualised Jeevaatma is united with the Universal Paramaatma represented by the formless Aum. The Yogis contemplates the eternal relationship. You are the Eldest Lord (i.e. ever Unborn) and is of the Nature of Brahman (Absolute Consciousness); You are the Embodiment of the Sacred Pranava (Aum). GURU PRAYER Gurur Brahmaa Gurur Vishnuh Gurur Devo Maheshvarah Guruh Saakshaat Parabrahmaa Tasmai Shree Gurave Namah Guru = teacher, preceptor Brahma = the Creator (with four heads) Guru = teacher, preceptor Vishnu = the Protector, the preserver, (with the Conshell, discuss and mace) Guru = teacher, preceptor Devo = Divine Maheshvarah = the Destroyer of the evil qualities (who holds the Ganga in his matted hair, with the Trident in his hand, snake around his neck) Guru = teacher, preceptor Saakshaat = indeed, itself, in real Parabrahmaa = Supreme Tasmai = for that Shree = Glory, respected word Guru = teacher, preceptor Namah = bow, salutation, prostrait Salutations to the preceptor. He is Brahma, Vishnu and Lord Maheswara. He is indeed the Supreme Parabrahman himself. The Guru is like Brahma because he corrects character in children. He is like Vishnu because he protects the good qualities in his pupils. He is like Maheswara because he destroys the bad habits and qualities in them (children). I take refuge in the supremely sacred Vibhūti of Bābā, the wonderful Vibhūti, which bestows salvation, the sacred state which I desire to attain. The act of offering is God, the oblation is God. By God it is offered into the Fire of God. God is That which is to be attained by him who performs action pertaining to God. Aham Vaishvaanaro Bhoothvaa Pranninaam Dehamaashritaha Pranaapaana Samaayuktaha Pachaamyannam Chaturvidham Aham =I Vaishvanarah = (the fire) Vaisvanara Bhoothvaa = having become Praninaam = of living beings Deham = the body Aashritaha = abiding, to depend upon, to follow Praana = the outgoing air Apaana = the down-going air. Samaayuktaha = keeping in balance Pachaamy = digest Annam = food Chathur = four Vidham = types, kind Becoming the life-fire in the bodies of living beings mingling with the subtle breaths, I digest the four kinds of food. ‘Praana” and Apaana are the two physiological functions of “perception” and of “excretion”. Here, the Eternal Reality is indicated as that mighty life which when pulsating through the body manifests itself as the digestive fire “(Vaishvanara) which assimilating and absorbing the nutrition, it is again the same divine spark of life that gives the intestines its capacities to throw out (Apaana) the undigested and unnecessary by-products. The four types of food: 1) That which we bite with our teeth and chew 2) That which we masticate 3) That which we gulp ( liquids like buttermilk) 4) That which we swallow One Omkaar to be chanted Asatho Maa Sadgamayaa……..should be recited and then start eating VISHNU PRAYER Shaantaakaaram Bhujaga Shayanam Padmanaabham Suresham Vishwaadhaaram Gagana Sadhrusham Meghavarnam Shubhaangam Lakshmi Kaantham Kamala Nayanam Yogi Hrud Dhyaanagamyam Vande Vishnum Bhava Bhaya Haram Sarva Lokaika Naatham Shaanta = serene, tranquil, calm Aakaaram = form Bhujaga = snake, serpent Shayanam = lying down, resting, sleeping Padma = Lotus Naabham = Navel Suresham = the Supreme being Vishwa = Universe Aadharam = depending, supporting Gagana = sky Sadhrusham = similar, like, comparable, pervading Megha = Clouds Varnam = colour Shubha = Auspicious, fortunate, beautiful Angam = body Lakshmi = Goddess of wealth, Vishnu’s consort Kaantham = Lord Kamala = Lotus Nayanam = Eyes Yogi = A sage, hermit, an ascetic, devotee Hru = Lead, convey, acquire, gain Dhyaana = Meditation Gamyam = Attainable, accessible, desirable Vande = Bow, Salutation, obeisance Vishnum = Vishnu can be identified as the holder of conshell, Discuss, Mace, and the lotus flower Bhava = Worldly existence, originating Bhaya = Fear Haram = Destroying, removing Sarva = All Loka = Loka means world Ika = ika means one Naatham = Lord, Master I bow to Lord Vishnu, the one Master of the Universe, who is ever surpassingly serene in form, who reclines in the great serpent bed, from whose navel springs the Lotus of Creative Power, who is the Supreme Being, who supports the entire Universe, who is all-pervading like the sky, who is dark like the clouds and has a beautiful body, the Lord of Lakshmi, the Lotus-eyed One, whom the yogis are able to perceive through meditation, who is the destroyer of the fear of Samsaara. GANESHA PRAYER Shuklaambara Dharam Vishnum Shashivarnnam Caturbhujam Prasanna Vadanam Dhyaayet Sarva Vighnopa Shaantaye Shukla = White Ambara = Clothes, Garments Dhara = Wearing Vishnum = Who is All-Pervading Shashin = Moon Varna = Colour, Appearance Chatus = Four Bhuja = Arm Prasanna = Gracious, Kind Vadana = Face Dhyaayet = Let us Meditate Sarva = All Vighna = Obstacle Pa = Guarding, Protecting Shaantaya = To calm (We Meditate on Sri Ganesha) Who is Wearing White Clothes, Who is All-Pervading, Who is Bright in Appearance like the Moon and who is Having Four Hands, Who is having a Compassionate and Gracious Face, Let us meditate on Him to Ward off all Obstacles.
