Greetings!
Friends Advantage Members get up to 5 gallons FREE clean, pure
water each time you shop at Orchard Nutrition Center.
With our purification system, water first passes through a 30micron sediment filter to remove most suspended particles like
silt, fine sand and rust.
The second step is a 5-micron sediment filter, which
remove any remaining sediment. The water then filters through a
commercial grade, solid block activated carbon filter which
removes chlorine and a wide range of volatile halogens,
pesticides, industrial solvents (such as Trihalomethanes,
Trichloroethane, Benzene, Ethylenedibromide and Dichloroethene)
and many other harmful, foul tasting chemicals.
The "heart" of the system is the reverse osmosis membrane,
which separates the dissolved impurities from the water supply.
UV light is then used to kill or scramble the
DNA of any living viruses, bacteria, or protozoa
rendering them harmless.
Finally the water passes through a calcite block to make the water
a neutral PH leaving clean, pure delicious water.

Clear Pathways Learning Services presents
The Parent Empowerment Group
Clear Pathways Learning Services is hosting a free parent group to
benefit families that have students that are struggling academically.
Whether your student earns straight A's but must study too hard
to achieve those grades, is in special education services but is still
not making enough positive gains, or is simply falling through the
cracks, then this group is for you.
The purpose of the group is two-fold: Initially, because Clear
Pathways uses highly effective treatments that train the brain and
change the way students learn, they will be sharing information
about how to improve learning skills. Secondly, it will be an
opportunity for parents to ask questions and share concerns with
each other. Other parents may have positive suggestions or
solutions for struggles that you may be experiencing with your
student. Brain storming and learning from each other can be a
powerful learning experience.
This group will not be a place to share frustrations about what a
school district has done or not done for children, but rather a
group that will focus on positive outcomes and what parents can
do for their children to help them succeed academically.
The first meeting will be held Wednesday, November 11th, from 7
p.m. to 8 p.m. in the office space above Orchard Nutrition Center
at 221 Locust Street, Suite 202
in Redding Ca.

"Lusty Red" Petite Sirah - Alger Vineyards
This Petite Sirah table wine was made from the Petite Sirah block
outside of the tasting room that was planted in the year 2000. The
Petite Sirah is blended with our estate Syrah, Zinfandel and
Orange Muscat. It's initial aromas are of blackberries and
boysenberries. The palate explodes with deep-ripened plums and
cherries, combined with hints of white pepper and a soft but
lingering tannin finish.

2014 Pinot Grigio
This light and crisp Pinot Grigio was made in the traditional Italian
style. This wine was made with great care: picked at optimal

2011 Barbera
In Italy, Barbera is known as the "everyday
wine". This barbera fills the air with exotic
spiced pungency. It boasts nuances of
pepper, anise, and a hint of peppermint.
It's taste is powerful and fresh and easy to
pair with any dish, especially traditional
Italian recipes, meats, and barbecue.
2012 Petite Sirah
Petite Sirah is known as the heart healthy wine. This is due to the
high concentration of anthocyanins and pigments is Petite Sirah.
This is our most robust wine. It is deep purple in color with a very
bold and fruity nose and pallet.

Winter squash is at the peak of its season,
extremely nutritious, has great flavor and is an
inexpensive way to add good nutrition to your meals.
Winter squash is also one of the richest sources of plant based
anti-inflammatory nutrients such as omega 3s and beta-carotene,
which are important for a strong immune system to help protect
against colds and flu.
Squash is also a rich source of Vitamin A and C, magnesium, fiber,
folate, riboflavin, phosphorus, potassium and Vitamin B6. In
addition, it is high in manganese, a mineral which helps the body
process fats, carbohydrates, and glucose.
You can cook squash many different ways - Roast, steam, sauteed,
add to a stir fry or use in baked goods!

Potato, Squash & Goat
Cheese Gratin
This is an easy, rustic recipe
that makes a great
vegetarian meal
or a pretty side dish
for autumn.
Ingredients:
2 medium organic Yellow crook neck summer squash or try
*Delicata organic winter squash, about 1/2 pound
4 small to medium organic *red potatoes, about 1 pound
3 Tbsp olive oil (*Organic Roots)
4 ounces goat cheese (*North Valley Handcrafted
Farmstead)
Salt and freshly ground black pepper
1/4 cup whole milk (*Humboldt)
1/3 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese (*Organic
Valley)
1 Tbsp chopped *organic green onion, optional,
for garnish

Delicata Squash
Directions:
Preheat oven to 400°F. Lightly grease a
1 1/2- to 2-quart casserole dish with a drizzle of olive oil.
Slice yellow summer squash on a mandoline or if using Delicata
squash, use a knife to slice the squash lengthwise, remove seeds
and then use a mandoline to slice into 1/8 inch moon-shaped
pieces, and then to slice the potatoes into very, very thin slices,
1/8-inch thick or less, (*You can use a knife if you do not have a
mandoline). Toss the sliced vegetables with the 3 tablespoons
olive oil in a large bowl.
Place a third of the squash and potato slices in the bottom of the
dish - just spread them evenly - then season with salt and pepper.
Top with half of the goat cheese, crumbled evenly over vegetables.
Repeat with another third of the vegetables, seasoning again with
salt and pepper and topping with the other half of the goat cheese.
Finish by layering on the final third of the vegetables and
seasoning with salt and pepper.
Pour the milk over the entire dish. Top with the Parmesan cheese.
Bake, covered, for 30 minutes, then uncover and bake 15 more
minutes, until the top browns. Scatter on the chopped green
onion, if using for garnish.
