Ground-breaking Ceremony for the Grimming
Thermal
On 12 December 2007, the ground-breaking
ceremony took place for the construction of the
Grimming-Therme in the Styrian village of Bad
Mitterndorf. At this point, the sheer size of the
49,000 square metre plot already indicated the
magnitude of this project.

Leading an entire region into the future
"The fact that this project was a success is not only
of symbolic significance. When it comes to
opportunities for our youth, it was a quantum leap
for the entire district of Liezen", explains the town's
mayor Dr. Karl Kaniak and numerous well-known
personalities from economics, tourism and politics
couldn't agree more. Governor Mag. Franz Voves
praised the area's combined efforts: "Here in Bad
Mitterndorf, we invest strategically and use the
available infrastructure optimally. The outstanding
cooperation between the mayors of Pichl/Kainisch,
Tauplitz and Bad Mitterndorf made it possible to
preserve the people's beautiful home region while
creating jobs and hope for the local youth".
The scope of the project "Grimming-Therme" was
quite impressive: Upon opening the thermal spa and
hotel of the Aldiana Group in summer 2009, guests
were able to enjoy pools measuring a total of
approximately 800 square metres as well as 166
modern hotel rooms.
However, with an expected indirect profitability of
15 to 20 million Euros per year, this was a terrific
investment. In his speech, Deputy Governor
Hermann Schützenhöfer also emphasised the
project's significance for the region: "The
