TVB Stars Showed Up At Kuala Lumpur, Ipoh & Penang to Meet with Local Fans
TVB and Astro have been striving to deliver the top quality Chinese TV drama programmes to Malaysia
audiences since the launch of the Astro On Demand(AOD) service in 2007. Throughout the years, the
simulcast of Hong Kong’s TVB Jade Channel dramas and the huge response to the related star campaigns
have gained many loyal viewers and have increased the public awareness of AOD. To make this occasion
even more successful, and to make more noise for AOD’s upcoming TVB red-hot titles, TVB artistes
Michael Tse, Maggie Shiu, Nancy Wu and Lai Lok Yi were invited to attend a Special Artistes
Appearance from the 30th of July to the 1st of August in three major cities in Malaysia: Kuala Lumpur,
Ipoh and Penang!
They started off the first day of their fully-packed tour with a press conference at Kuala Lumpur to meet
with local media. Numerous reporters crowded the event venue and welcomed the artistes with nonstop
blinking flashlights and interview questions. Under an extremely tight schedule, both artistes completed
the interviews and promotion shootings professionally and hurried to the event at Ipoh and Penang.
The next on-ground event was held on the July 31 and Aug 1 at Kinta City and Gurney Plaza respectively.
No matter which venue they were at, eager fans hailed the four artistes with the utmost enthusiasm.
Dressed lightly in style, Michael, Maggie, Nancy and Lai greeted the long awaited audiences with
friendly smiles and stunning singing performances. They shared with the crowds about their latest
personal plans and interesting shooting experiences of the upcoming TVB dramas No Regrets, Relic Of
An Emissary, Twilight Investigation, When Heaven Burns, just to name a few. In addition, the artistes
also gave out autographed photos and invited audiences to participate in playing games with them. Not
only were they given the chance to win fabulous prizes, they were able to take side by side pictures with
their favorite idols as well!
For the campaign in Penang on Aug 1 at night, 200 lucky Astro subscribers were given the privilege to
participate in the loyalty event held at Eastin Hotel, in which selected audiences could enjoy a deluxe
souvenir pack and awesome performances of the stars exclusively. The four renowned Hong Kong artistes
awed the Malay audiences with their soothing voice and melodic pop songs, in particular, the theme song
of the megahit drama E.U. by Michael. His stunning singing skill proved us he is not just a good
undercover but also an excellent singer! The crowd shouted on the top of their lungs and the entire
atmosphere of the room was extremely hyped up!
Coming to the end of the three-day promotional campaign, the four artistes reluctantly bid Malaysia
farewell and they also made an appeal for the fans’ long-lasting support to TVB programmes. Beyond 14
years of partnership with Astro, TVB will continue to look for more collaboration opportunities, aiming to
provide Malaysia audience a wider spectrum of TV entertainment.
