Calming Oral Solution for dogs
Effective Calming Oral Solution
Imrex GABArexTM Calming Oral Solution is a botanical anxiolytic for use in
dogs. GABArexTM Calming Oral Solution is a GABAA (gamma amino butyric
acid) receptor agonist. GABArexTM Calming Oral Solution maintains normal
behaviour during anxiety inducing situations such as:
• Thunderstorms
• Fireworks and loud noises
• Meeting new dogs, people, and other animals
• Veterinary and grooming appointments
• Car rides
• Other anxiety-inducing events
GABArexTM Calming Oral Solution’s active ingredient is Valerian Root
Extract (Valeriana officinalis extract) 6.875%. Valerian Root Extract is a
GABAA agonist that stimulates the GABAA receptor in the brain. The GABAA
receptor regulates nerve cells, therefore when it is stimulated, it increases the
amount of GABA (gamma amino butyric acid), resulting in a calming effect.

Abstract
In a 28-day real-world, non-controlled,
blind-evaluated study in dogs with anxiety
disorders, an oral, valerian-based,
anxiolytic product (GABArexTM, imRex
Inc., Burlington, Canada) demonstrated a
statistically significant improvement in
anxiety scores, regardless of the animal’s
breed, age, sex or duration of the
problem. Of the 30 dogs that completed
the study, the average overall
improvement in anxiety scores over 14
days of treatment was 28%, with a further
improvement to 33% at day 28. These
improvements were statistically
significant (P<0.0001).

How to use:
FOR USE IN DOGS ONLY
• Small dogs (<10 kg) 1 pump or 1 mL
• Medium dogs (10 to 25 kg) 2 pumps or
2 mL
• Large dogs (>25 kg) 3 pumps or 3 mL
• Administer twice daily by mouth for 4 to
6 weeks, then continue as
recommended by your veterinarian.
• For situations known to induce
abnormal behaviour, administer 12
hours before the event, then again 2
hours before the event. During the
event, administer every 6 hours.
