We understand that your wedding day is one of the most important days of your life
and therefore we will do all we can to assist you.
Since opening in June 1995, Mills Reef has established
itself as one the Bay of Plenty’s premium wedding
venues - and when you book your wedding at Mills
Reef- it’s all exclusively yours!
The beautifully landscaped, 20 acre grounds feature
expansive grassed areas, with liberal plantings of
ornamental trees, hedges and ceremony lawns.
Mills Reef is literally a picture perfect setting for a
wedding of any style. Our two distinct outside
ceremony areas and our underground aged wine
cellar with it’s domed ceiling can be used as a venue
or as a wet weather alternative.
The underground Barrel Room is our dynamic and
striking new reception room, a unique and
unexpected experience that will have your guests
excited with its wow factor.
Indoor / outdoor flow from the gardens and patio
into our main restaurant provide seamless transition
for your guests from ceremony to reception, while
enjoying the stunning views out onto our gardens.

All wedding couples are encouraged to personally
meet with our head chef who will assist you in writing
your own personalised menu.
Our wine tasting team are also available to guide you
through a wine tasting to match our wines with your
menu.

to the needs of couples and their families on your
special day.

plantings of ornamental trees, hedges and ceremony lawns which are ideal for a
wedding of any size and style.
Or for an intimate indoor wedding our underground Aged Wine Cellar with domed
ceilings forms a stunning private chapel.

Our beautifully manicured raised lawn directly in
front of our restaurant and outdoor dining area is the
traditional favourite for our couples, with its delightful
backdrop in summer of agapanthus and surrounding
courtyard and pergolas.
Walk through our manicured hedges and down a
solid concrete long aisle on our Vintage Lawn for your
perfect ‘outside chapel’. This area is semi-secluded
and with your guests seated to either side you will
feel like someone has let the sun shine into your
traditional chapel wedding.
Have your ceremony on either the paved apex or the
raised lawn, with your guests seated on the lawn.
The centre circle of the Vintage Lawn with its wrought
iron pillars create a perfect location and focal point for
your ceremony with views of the Kaimai’s and ample
room for your guests to mingle.

Walk down our curved stairwell with white
bowed handrails into our beautiful vaulted ceiling
underground Aged Wine Cellar.

The Aged Wine Cellar allows you to plan your outdoor

We invite you to personally meet with our head chef who will write a unique menu
especially to your taste, any special dietary requirements, budget or even your
wedding theme.
Set menus
Set menus give your guests the option of choosing
their meal with their orders taken as they are seated
at the reception.
To help you plan your menu we have sample menus
available with options including breads on table, two
or three option entrées, mains and /or desserts or
consider your wedding cake as a plated dessert.
Buffet menus
Your guests are guided to the buffet station where
our staff personally serve them.
With sample buffet menus available, you can be

Bookings for less than the minimums in the table shown will be accepted, conditional to acceptance that the shortfall in guest
numbers will be charged in the catering costs * (canapes & menu).

Guest numbers
An approximate number of guests must be advised at the time of booking.
Confirmed guest numbers must be provided and catering paid at least three working days prior to the wedding date.
Catering* (canapes & menu) will be charged on the greater of the following:
confirmed numbers from 5 days prior to wedding OR
minimum number as per table above
OR actual number of people in attendance
* On day of wedding, catering will be prepraed for actual numbers only
Booking Policy
Mills Reef advises that bookings will be regarded as tentative until a deposit is received.
In order to safeguard both you (the client) and Mills Reef, once a tentative booking is made, a deposit equaling the full venue
hire is required within 21 days to secure your requested date otherwise your tentative booking will be automatically released
after the 21 days.
On confirming your booking with a deposit, you will be provided with our Wedding Guide and booking sheet.
Cancellation Policy
As Mills Reef is a highly sought after wedding venue, confirmed bookings which are canceled will be subject to a
cancellation fee as follows:
Saturday bookings cancellation fee
0‐12 months out from date 13‐24 months out from date
100% of deposit is non‐refundable.
50% of deposit is non‐refundable.
For bookings on any other day of the week
0‐6 months out from date 7‐12 months out from date 100% of deposit non‐refundable.
50% of the deposit is non‐refundable.
