Narrative Report on Tampus Potable Water System Project
The funds for the Tampus Potable Water System Project amounting to $35,660.00
was released on June 16, 2011. The remaining two weeks on the month of June
were consumed in planning and coordinating the activities such as meetings with
the stakeholders and lot owners of the proposed location of tank and deep well.
The Memoradum of Agreement between Rotary Club of Marinduque North and
Barangay Council of Tampus was signed on July 2, 2011 at Kusina sa Plaza
Restaurant.

The project is supposed to be
implemented on the first
week
of
July
but
unfortunately,
series
of
typhoons such as Juaning,
Kabayan and Lando struck
the land and brought heavy
rainfalls. On August 11th , the
project billboard was erected
in barangay Tampus.
Due to the unexpected events, the proposed seminar for water management and
orientation for the organization of Tampus Waterworks and Sanitation
Association – Rotary Community Corps was postponed thrice. The orientationseminar was finally implemented on July 30, 2011.

Pres. Randy O. Ayala facilitated the activity with
the support of the Club’s Water Management
committee co-chaired by PP Fred Leano.
Mr. Rolly Larracas and Mrs. Aida Mariposque
were the guest trainers of the activity.

The water yield testing on the existing deep well that was indicated in project
plan as the proposed site was started on the third week of July. After a week of
testing, it was found out that the proposed site is not feasible as source of the
potable water because the 50 liters per minute yield of the well could not suffice
the amount needed for the whole village with 1,200 population. It was
recommended to look for another site that can produce 40 -60 galloons per
minute.
First week of August, bore testing was started in another site. But unfortunately,
the activity was not successful because the driller found out that the site is
mountainous and with lots of big stones that can hinder the drilling activity.
Seeking another area for drilling creates big problem
both on the part of the club and the barangay. And
finally, on the second week of August, a resident of
the barangay and a former Rotarian offered his lot to
become a possible water source. On August 18th, the
test
boring
activity
was
successfully
finished and
found
good
quality source
of water on
the 80th to 90th
feet. August 20 was the start of putting up
of the casings.
Third week of August was also the
implementation of the clearing activity,
resurvey and lateral measurements of the
actual pipes lay-out, and pipe trench
excavation for the well for ferrocement
reservoir supply line.
The new site for the erection of the the
Ferrocement tank was donated by the family
of Mr. Lorenzo Jalac because the original site
was a little bit farther from the new source of
water.

The following weeks will become busy because of the start of the construction of
the ferrocement tank and pipe lay-outing. The target date to finish the project
which is last week of August will not be possible. The club estimated that the
project will be finished before the third week of September.
