LOOK
TALESHA
SMASHBOX STYLE
SKIN
To get the most from your foundation,
using a good primer is an absolute must. We
applied Smashbox Photo Finish Foundation
Primer on Talesha’s face (excluding the eye
area) using a buffing brush.
Liquid Halo HD Foundation No.6 gave
Talesha’s skin that radiant, lit-from-within
glow, which we set with a light application
of Photo Set Pressed Powder. To keep her
look dewy and fresh, we only used the setting
powder on her T-zone and eyes, adding a
little highlighter to the bridge of Talesha’s
nose, cupids bow and chin using the Halo
Highlighting Wand in Gold.
A subtle swirl of Halo Long Wear Blush
in Warm Glow on the apples of her cheeks
added the final touch to Talesha’s radiant
skin.
We used Jet Set Waterproof Eye Liner
in Deep Black over the entire eye area,
including the brow, and smudged a
little from the outer corner of the eye
towards the temple. Use a syntheticbristle brush and work quickly, since
this product sets in 60 seconds, and
don’t forget to soften the edges with a
clean brush.
To complement and add depth to
the natural shape of Talesha’s eyes, we
used Ebony from the Photo Op Eye
Shadow Trio in Litho in the crease of
the eye, and down the sides of the nose.
A dab from the lightest segment of the
Fusion Soft Lights wheel (in Baked
Stardust) to the inner corner of the eye
added some brightness.
Underneath the lower lash line we
used Cream Shadow in Gemstone for a
warm tone. It’s a buildable product, so
if it’s not intense enough just pack on a
little more with a flat brush. For even
more intensity you can cover it with a
powder shadow in the same colour.
LIPS
We kept the lips simple so as not
to detract from the dramatic eye, using
the Smashbox Nude Lip Liner Crayon
in Medium and a dash of Be Legendary
Lipstick in Nylon Nude.
We used Waterproof Kohl Liner in
Raven on the waterline, and Limitless
Liquid Liner Pen in Jet Black for an
extra-fine line above Talesha’s top
lashes. Then we got creative with the
Liquid Liner Pen, using it to stipple
and smudge in an abstract pattern from
the eyes towards the temples. Try a
combination of drawing, smudging,
and applying to a finger and dabbing on
the skin. This gives a variety of textures
and adds interest to the pattern.
To finish the eyes off, we added
a generous sweep of Photo Op Eye
Brightening Mascara in Brightening
Black.
PRO TIP: Cream and gel eye shadows
act as their own primer, smoothing and
drying on the eye. Powder shadows
don’t have this ability, and a good lid
primer can be a huge help. Apply your
lid primer (we love Photo Finish Lid
Primer) after foundation, concealer
and powder, right before your shadow,
to give extra grip and longevity, and
smoother, easier application.

NICOLA
SMASHBOX STYLE
SKIN
For Nicola’s look we really wanted to give
a porcelain-like finish to her skin, creating
a beautifully neutral canvas to allow the
artistic nature of the design to shine.
After prepping her skin with primer, we
used Liquid Halo HD Foundation No.2 to
create a flawlessly smooth finish. The oilfree, gel-based formula is great for perfecting
skin tone and texture, and is buildable for
areas that need a little more coverage without
looking heavy or unnatural.
To add a little drama and dimension, we
sculpted underneath Nicola’s cheekbones
with Bronze Lights in Sunkissed Matte,
and highlighted the bridge of her nose,
upper cheekbones and chin using the Halo
Highlighting Wand in Gold.
COLOUR
BROWS
We filled and neatened Nicola’s
brows with our favourite Brow
Tech To Go in Brunette to give
them a clean, graphic style that
matched the rest of the look.
PRO TIP: Always use syntheticbristle brushes with cream-based
products. Natural bristles don’t
hold the product as effectively,
and damage more easily.
It’s important to get a balance of colour
without overworking this design. We used
a combination of five colours from opposite
sides of the colour wheel. For blues and
greens we used Cream Shadow in Sapphire
and Neptune, and for the reds and yellows
it was Cream Shadow in Gemstone, Lime
Photo Op Eye Shadow (from the Trio in
Electro), and Be Legendary Lipstick in
Mandarin. We applied and smudged using
a combination of synthetic-bristle brushes
and fingers, and cleaned up the edges with a
cotton bud dipped in moisturiser.

ARZU
BEAUTY
SKIN
Arzu has naturally gorgeous skin, and
we wanted to highlight its honey tones.
After priming, we used Liquid Halo HD
Foundation No. 7, which matched her
colouring perfectly and allowed her skin’s
radiance to take centre stage. A sweep of
Bronze Lights in Suntan Matte under the
cheekbones and on the temples added subtle
contouring, while a hint of Halo Long Wear
Blush in Warm Glow gave a delicate flush
to the apples of Arzu’s cheeks. The final
touch to the skin was highlights to the brow
bone, bridge of the nose, cupids bow and
chin using the darker tones from Fusion Soft
Lights in Baked Stardust.
PRO TIP: Fair skin looks better with
pink/white highlights, while darker skin is
flattered by gold/bronze highlighter tones.
The Brow Tech To Go in Brunette
helped us fill and shape Arzu’s brows,
but the real star of the show in this area
was the eye shadow. Using a small,
flat, pointed brush we applied Tropical
from the Photo Op Eye Shadow Trio in
Electro to the upper lashline, sweeping
up towards the inner corner of the eye,
and outwards in a flick towards the
temples. We filled in the triangular
space between this line, the nose, and
the brow using Serpent from the Photo
Op Eye Shadow Trio in Quick Take.
For the fine, detailed lines radiating
from the lid to the brow, we went back
to Tropical, using a fine, angled brush
for precision and control.
To create depth, we darkened the
waterline and lower lash line with
Waterproof Kohl Liner in Raven. Make
sure this meets the bottom edge of the
LIPS
Smashbox Nude Lip Liner Crayon in
Medium and Be Legendary Lipstick in
Nylon Nude gave Arzu the perfect, nude
pout to complement the more powerful
eyes.
Tropical blue, at the outer corner of the
eye, and soften the edges with a clean
brush. We wanted a crisper line on the
top lashes, so we opted for the Liquid
Liner Pen in Jet Black. If your eye shape
is similar to Arzu’s, it’s best to only take
the top line about three-quarters of the
way to the inside corner. This opens up
the eye area, and can look more natural
than if it was full-length.
A dab of the blended colours from
the Fusion Soft Lights wheel in Baked
Stardust to the inner corner of Arzu’s
eyes added a little bit of brightness,
which we polished off with a dash of Eye
Brightening Mascara in Brightening
Black.

BROW
We simply adore the Smashbox
Brow Tech To Go, with its doublesided combo of a chunky, angled
pencil and brow brush with softhold gel. We used this in Brunette
to fill in Lori’s brows, using
gentle, upwards strokes to mimic
individual hairs.
PRO TIP: To look natural,
use one tone lighter than your
natural brow colour when you fill
in your brows. Using the same
shade can make them look darker
and too intense.
LIPS
We used the Smashbox Nude Lip
Liner Crayon in Medium, which
really does match nearly every
skin tone, and finished off with a
slick of Be Legendary Lipstick in
Nylon Nude.
SKIN
The trick to freckles and foundation?
It’s simple: celebrate them, and let them
shine through! We used Liquid Halo HD
Foundation No.2, after prepping Lori’s skin
with Photo Finish Foundation Primer. We
love the light coverage of Liquid Halo HD
Foundation for perfecting skin tone without
concealing those lovely freckles, and the
SPF15 is a bonus for fair skin. Don’t forget
to set with a light dusting of powder to
the T-zone to combat any movement or
unwanted shine.
To accentuate Lori’s facial contours,
we used Bronze Lights in Sunkissed Matte
underneath her cheekbones, on her temples,
and along her hair and jaw lines. A pop of
colour from Halo Long Wear Blush in Warm
Glow to the cheeks gave her a delicate flush,
and the Halo Highlighting Wand in Gold
added dimension to the bridge of her nose,
cheeks, and chin.
EYES
Using a small, flat, synthetic-bristle brush,
we applied Cream Eye Shadow in Sapphire
to Lori’s lids, up to the crease. We then swept
the colour out in a wing, angled towards the
end of her brow, and reversed the sweep
under her lower lash line. To get the shape
of the lower curve follow the bottom edge
of the eye about three-quarters of the way
along before slanting downwards towards
the nose.
We intensified the colour by covering
it with Tropical from the Photo Op Eye
Shadow Trio in Electro. Make sure to link
the upper and lower lines. We softened the
top edge of the wing with a clean brush, and
left the bottom edge crisp to draw the eye.
To open the eyes, we used Always Sharp
Waterproof Kohl Liner in Raven on the
waterline, and filled in the inner corner of
the eye with a white kohl pencil. We joined
this pop of white to the top line, and kicked
it up a notch with a dash of pale highlighter
from the Fusion Soft Lights wheel in Baked
Stardust.
The Liquid Liner Pen in Jet Black was
perfect for adding a very fine line above
Lori’s upper lashes, and along the lower
lash line following the top edge of the blue.
A sweep of Photo Op Eye Brightening
Mascara in Brightening Black enhanced the
lashes themselves.
PRO TIP: To clean or neaten a line
without removing everything underneath,
just dip a pointed cotton bud into moisturiser
and swipe – it’s as easy as that!
