1. Project Purpose:
The project concept note is submitted with the purpose to establish a permanent
medical clinic for providing free health treatment to the most vulnerable and needy
poor patients of the area.
2. Project Objectives:
The project specific objectives are:
a) To provide treatment facilities to the needy women, children and men
suffering from health problems;
b) To provide free medicines, consultations and prescriptions to the patients;
c) To make referrals to other suitable hospitals/ clinics for treatment of the most
needy patients.
3. Project Deliverables (Outcomes):
The following are the specific project deliverables:
a) Appointment of full-time qualified medical doctor to provide health
treatment to the needy, supported by two volunteers and one qualified
nurse.
b) Construction of single story medical clinic building within 6 month period
c) Provision of medical facilities, equipment and tools to successfully run the
medical clinic for providing assistance to the needy people
d) Regular treatment of at least 80-100 patients per day

4. Proposed Project Budget:
Requested amount from the funding body GBP 11,542 or BDT 13,62,000 (Detailed
project budget is also attached)
5. Rationale of the project:
MMWF have learnt that there is a dire need to provide medical facilities to the
vulnerable poor people of the Ghorashal area. The poor people do not have means
to travel outside the village and pay for their transportation. By providing the health
facilities near to them will definitely reduce their sufferings and will enable to have a
better life.
By implementing various medical camps in the past and after talking on one-to-one
basis with the poor people, we have learnt that we must address their needs.

7. Past Experience of similar projects:
MMWF have successfully implemented numerous medical camps and health clinics
to support the needy patients in Bangladesh. MMWF also provided medical aid and
equipment including medicines to the victims and injured persons in the Saver
building (Garments factory) accident.
8. Current Facilities
MMWF is currently running the weekly clinics (medical camps) from a rented village
property. The facility includes, consultation rooms for the doctors, sitting open area
of the patients, drinking water facility for patients, toilet facilities, accommodation for
the doctor and retiring room.
On quarterly basis, a large temporary structure is set-up for the treatments of
patients, the number reach up to more than 1200. A team of 8 doctors is engaged
to treat the patients, including Skin specialists, Gynae, Child speciality, Medicine
Doctors, Burn specialists, Dentist. The team of doctors are also supported by trained
volunteers and nurse.

9. Services offered (Information and data of earlier projects):
Free medical camps arranged on weekly basis, treating women, children and
elderly men suffering from skin diseases, gastric problems, or children problems. The
doctors will be also treating the pregnant women or newly born children.
10. Our Partner Organisations:
MMWF have successfully developed partnerships with International Health Partners
(IHP) a UK registered charity for providing doctors packs for treating at least 1000
patients per doctors pack. MMWF also had links and working relations with the
national hospital in Dhaka, along with working relations with the Police hospital.

11. Support from UK Office:
MMWF UK office will provide full support and assistance to its counterparts in
Bangladesh, ensuring that the project is successfully implemented within the
specified timeframe and budget.
12. Project Management:
The project building is designed by an architect and will be constructed under the
direct supervision of MMWF Country Director Bangladesh.
13. Project Reporting:
The project progress will be quarterly reported to the donor/ funding agency.
14. Project Monitoring & Evaluation:
The project will also be monitored on monthly basis from the Dhaka office.
15. Publicity of Project Activities:
All project activities will be duly publicized in the local media and newspapers and
on MMWF Bangladesh and UK website.
