Model History
The Chevrolet Corvette C2, known as "Sting Ray", was introduced in 1962 as the successor to
the C1 and was a radical innovation: a new frame with 4 independent wheel suspensions, the
distinctive edged design of the plastic body in wedge form, pop-up headlights and 2-circuit
brake system with disc brakes all round. Comfort extras including a novel air conditioner. For
the first time, the Corvette was available as Convertible and Coupe. In 1964, the top engine
with the V8 smallblock with 5,4l and 365 hp delivered good torque to the rear axle. Production
ended in 1967 with a total of 117 964 units produced.
Description
This 1964 C2 Sting Ray Corvette is one of the few in Germany with Matching Numbers
(chassis, engine, transmission, rear axle). The current owner imported the Sting Ray, which
was professionally restored in the U.S., in 2010 from Florida to Germany.
In 2011 the car was awarded with 2nd place at the International Corvette meeting in
Valkenburg, which underlines the exceptional and original condition of the Corvette. The Sting
Ray has participated at the 2011 Concours d'Elegance at Schloss Dyck. All emblems and
plates (Body, Paint & Trim Plate) are original. Drum brakes and whitewall tires (6.70x15) are
typical of American Sports-Coupés from 1964.
With its powerful 327 cui small-block V-8 engine with 300 hp combined with the manual
4-speed gearbox, you will enjoy a ride on winding country roads. The original Corvette Owners
Guide, U.S. Title, and german oldtimer-report are available.
