Queen’s Landing
Queen’s Landing Project Update
WDCL continues to lead a group of private and
public stakeholders in the review of the exciting
concept for the Queen’s Landing Project.
The project in concept, would include a major
expansion of the Maritime Museum of the
Atlantic, a permanent home for the HMCS
Sackville – Canada’s Naval Memorial, a hotel,
retail complex and office buildings. The project
would be a “star attraction” and an important
step in the ongoing transformation of the Halifax
Waterfront.
The Corporation continues to review the concept
with its present partners and anticipates
completing the feasibility assessment phase in
2007.
Salter Block
Salter Block Update
Centennial Group Limited continues to proceed
through
the
development
agreement
application process with HRM. This mixed-use
development comprising a boutique, hotel,
residential, commercial, and public open space
should be at public hearing by late summer or
early fall. Construction of this project will
complete the last portion of Halifax’s popular
Harbourwalk.
Rotary Project
Rotary Project Update
Nova Scotians and visitors have a new place to
experience and enjoy the Halifax waterfront.
Fred Were, President of the Rotary Club of
Halifax, and Eric Thomson, Chair of the
Waterfront Development board of directors,
officially opened the Rotary Centennial Look-Off
today, June 27, at South Battery Park, on the
Halifax waterfront.
"The rotary organization celebrates more than
100 years as the world's oldest service club,"
said Mr. Were. "We are proud that the three
Halifax Rotary clubs have collectively sponsored
this legacy project in partnership with
Waterfront Development Corporation Limited."
The three metro Rotary clubs (Halifax, Halifax
Northwest and Halifax Harbourside) worked with
the Waterfront Development Corporation to
create the look-off and performance platform to
commemorate the 100th anniversary of Rotary
International.

Dartmouth
Harbourwalk
Dartmouth Harbourwalk soon to be
complete!
The Dartmouth Harbourwalk Trail from the
Woodside Ferry Terminal to the Alderney Gate
ferry terminal should be complete by the end
of the summer.
WDCL and HRM in conjunction with Dartmouth
Harbourfront Trails Association (DHTA) are
responsible for different sections of the trail.
WDCL has retained Dexter Construction to
build the section between Alderney Drive and
Old Ferry Road, which should be completed in
July.
DHTA and HRM are working on the
section of trail from Old Ferry Road to Cuisack
Street and also hope to have that section of
trail ready for use this summer.
Once completed, the new trail will provide
residents and visitors with a great opportunity
to walk, bike, skateboard or push a stroller
along the Dartmouth Harbourwalk.
Lunenburg
Sobeys Invests in Foodland Store on
Lunenburg Waterfront.
Lunenburg Waterfront Association, Waterfront
Development Corporation Limited and Sobeys
Atlantic have signed a lease agreement to
operate the renovated store. The space on the
Lunenburg waterfront was formerly owned by
Clearwater Seafoods.
“We are pleased to confirm the deal with Sobeys
as the second major transaction to be finalized
on the Lunenburg Waterfront Association
properties,” said president Jim Eisenhauer. “The
jobs in the present operation are protected and
groceries will continue to be available along the
waterfront of Lunenburg which is all great
news.”
The Province is leasing the government-owned
property managed by the Lunenburg Waterfront
Association at fair market value. The Sobeys
agreement is the second lease agreement,
following the agreement with North Sails
Atlantic signed on March 28.

pipe through Dartmouth Cove.
