New stars on Luxembourg`s culinary sky
New stars on Luxembourg’s culinary sky Year after year, the Grand Duchy is defending its first place as the country with the highest density of star restaurants. © Robert Theisen Pastry chef Tom Oberweis was awarded a price for the exceptional quality of his chocolates at the "Salon du Chocolat" in Paris. This is yet another sign that Luxembourg is a fierce competitor in the culinary world. Whether for culinary trips or formal diners, Luxembourg’s international cuisine is the perfect start to every visit. In the Grand Duchy, more than 150 nations live and cook together. The jury of Michelin awarded 10 restaurants with a star : "La Cristallerie", "Mosconi", "Patin d’Or" and "Clairefontaine" in Luxemburg city, "Becher Gare" in Bech , "La Distillerie" in Bourglinster, "Léa Linster" in Frisange, "La Gaichel" in Gaichel, "Ma langue sourit" in Oetrange and the restaurant "Toit pour Toi" in Schouweiler. The "Gault & Millau" guide awarded Gilles Goess, head chef of the restaurant "De Jangeli" in Mondorf, the title of chef of the year 2015. Back in 2007, chef de cuisine of the renowned restaurant "Éparnay" in the Champagne, his cuisine had already hit the taste buds and was crowned with a Michelin star. The "Michelin" guide’s "Bib Gourmand" is given to those restaurants that offer quality dishes for a price of maximum of 37 €. It comes as no surprise that both the "Michelin" and "Gault & Millau" were largely impressed by the same restaurants. In Luxembourg City, the restaurants "Kamakura", "La Bergamote", "Mi et Ti" and "Two6Two" (Strassen) were rewarded with a "Bib". The Mullerthal region, Luxembourg’s little Switzerland is home to the traditional restaurant "Brimer", which also scored a "Bib Gourmand", and the wine-‐ growing region of the Moselle has its own winner with the restaurant Joël Schaeffer in Mertert. The critics from the "Michelin" guide selected the restaurant "Bonifas" in Nospelt. In the Ardennes in the north of Luxembourg, 3 restaurants were awarded a "Bib Gourmand": "Les Timandines" in Troisvierges, "Vieux Château" in Wiltz and "l’Ecuelle" in Wilwerdange. The "Gault & Millau" selection is quite the same. "La Distillerie" in Bourglinster, "Clairefontaine" and "Mosconi" in Luxembourg scored 18 points. 3 others scored 17 and 16 points, of which "Lea Linsters’s" restaurant in Frisange (17) and "De Jangeli" in Bad Mondorf (16). "La Cristallerie", "La Mirabelle" and "Patin d'Or" in Luxemburg (15 each) and "Becher Gare" in Bech, "Um Plateau" in Luxemburg and "Two6Two" in Strassen (14 each) improved their rating compared to last year. New additions include "A Guddesch" in Beringen, "Cibo's" in Bettembourg and "La Table de Frank" in Steinfort. >>> Starred restaurant
