“Meet Me in Miami”
FILM SYNOPSIS
Luis Montero has the perfect life. At 23, he’s one of Miami’s most eligible
bachelors and women are lined up just for an introduction. He’s also about to
inherit the family business - a rather profitable chain of hotels with properties
located all around the world. But none of this really matters. Because despite
all the fame and fortune, Luis has lost the only thing that really matters to him:
the perfect girl.
Luis was just 12 when he met Julia Abbott. She was staying at the Montero hotel
with her family while on holiday and when the two met, the connection was
instant. They spent the entire summer together; laughing, playing and wishing it
would never end. When it was finally time for Julia to return to her native New
Zealand, the two made a promise to meet back at the hotel’s main fountain the
same time every year, on Luis's birthday.
Unfortunately, real life stepped in and Luis found himself waiting at the fountain
each year, alone. Then at his 23rd birthday party, Luis decides it’s time to act –
he must find Julia and put destiny to the test before stepping into the family’s
plans for his future. Dragging his best friend Eduardo along on the adventure,
Luis boards a plane to New Zealand.
Amidst culture shock and language barriers, Luis and Eduardo embark on their
quest to find Julia. With only a name to go on and hundreds of inquiries later,
the two eventually find themselves standing at the front door of the Abbott
house. Before Luis can explain his visit, Mrs. Abbott mistakes him for the local
gardener hired to landscape the grounds for her daughter’s upcoming
wedding! Luis’s heart sinks at the news, but he’s determined to confront Julia,
even if it means stopping the wedding. So he encourages the charade - and
he and Eduardo pose as gardeners while planning their next move.
It doesn’t take long for the boys to discover that the imminent nuptials are in
fact being planned for Julia’s sister, not Julia, which leaves the door wide open
for Luis. At last the two young lovers are reunited – but a fairy tale encounter just
isn’t in the cards. Julia has grown up to be a disillusioned, punk tattoo artist, with
quite a mean boyfriend. And to further complicate matters, she still thinks Luis is
the family gardener. But Luis is undaunted and he sets out to win back Julia’s
heart.
19
With much persistence and patience, Luis manages to slowly win over Julia and
the two even venture out on a date. But just when it looks like fate might be
giving Luis a break, he and Eduardo suddenly find themselves hauled off to jail –
it seems their newly-acquired landscaping truck was used in a string of bank
robberies and now they’re being accused of the crime!
This new development forces Julia to examine her feelings for Luis, and the
secrets he may be hiding. But before she has a chance to learn the truth, Luis’s
father arrives from Miami to reluctantly bail out the boys and send them home.
When she finally does discover Luis’s true identity, Julia fears it is too late.
Back home in Miami, Luis is devastated - convinced his future is bleak with the
loss of Julia and his father’s respect. Wandering around the hotel grounds, he
finds himself back at the fountain. Now it’s Julia’s turn to make a surprise
entrance and the two share a passionate kiss.
It seems that Julia had finally decided to take Luis up on his offer to “Meet him in
Miami.” So she was a little late…

ABOUT THE CAST
CARLOS PONCE (Luis)
It was just a little over ten years ago when a new face appeared in the
entertainment world with nothing more than a dream to inspire him. Three
albums and three soap operas later, CARLOS PONCE has emerged as a
credible and talented entertainer who has carved a permanent niche for
himself in Latin entertainment as a singer, songwriter and actor as well as
television host and producer. With each new undertaking, this Puerto Rican
entertainer has won the hearts of millions around the world breaking language
barriers and opening new doors.
Ponce’s growing career thus far has been no coincidence. Since his birth on
September 4, 1972 in Santurce, Puerto Rico, Ponce has been preparing himself
for success. His first television appearance was at the age of 6, where he
appeared in various television commercials in his native homeland. At 14, his
family moved to Miami where he showed no signs of slowing down. After high
school, Ponce went on to study at the Miami-based conservatory, New World
School of the Arts. But it was a supporting role in the Spanish-language soap
opera, "Guadalupe" which first introduced audiences to the good looks and
charm of the then 18-year-old actor. This production opened many doors for
Ponce, who immediately found himself one of the most familiar and powerful
voices for Latin youth in the U.S. With such projects as hosting and producing a
Spanish-language magazine-style television show entitled "Control," for which he
earned two regional Emmy's and an ACE award for "Best Host" as well as his first
starring role in the Spanish-language soap opera "Sentimientos Ajenos," it
seemed Ponce was at the top of his game.
It was his song work on the soundtrack for “Sentimientos Ajenos” that brought
him to the attention of EMI Latin record executives, who signed Ponce to a
multi-album contract in 1997. In 1998, his self-titled first musical project was a
remarkable success worldwide earning him a double platinum award in the U.S.
and numerous gold records in Latin America.
He has since gone on to release three additional albums: Todo lo que soy
(1999) Ponce (2002) and La Historia (2003) for which he has received many
awards and accolades. His song "Amelia" was chosen as Germany's theme
song for the World Athletic Games in Sevilla, Spain.
21
After the September 11th tragedy, Ponce collaborated on the song, “El Ultimo
Adiós” with over 100 Latin artists. Proceeds from the recording went to victims of
the tragedy and, in October, Carlos was invited to perform the song at the
White House for President Bush and other dignitaries for Hispanic Heritage
month.
In 2004 he joined Erik Estrada, Elizabeth Pena and Lucy Lui in voicing Maya &
Miguel, an animated series for Scholastic and PBS Kids. Additional TV credits
include a reoccurring role on 7th Heaven and guest appearances on Beverly
Hills, 90210, Once and Again and Karen Sisco; he also performed live on Live!
with Regis & Kathie Lee and Donny & Marie and was invited to perform as part
of the "Stars on Ice" series, which aired on NBC.
He is currently awaiting the release of Just My Luck in which he stars with Lindsay
Lohan and Complete Guide to Guys, an adaptation of Dave Barry’s comic
novel which also stars the author and John Cleese.
EDUARDO VERÁSTEGUI (Eduardo)
JOSÉ EDUARDO VERÁSTEGUI CÓRDOBA was born May 21,1974 in Cd. Mante,
Tamaulipas, Mexico to a humble farming family. At 17, he left his family and
hometown to study acting at the famous CEA – where the stars of Televisa are
born. While attending school, Verástegui auditioned to be a singer in the band,
Kairo, and was surprised when he landed the gig. The band went on to record
in Milan, Italy, and then it was off to Egypt to film their first video before starting
an extensive tour throughout Mexico and the whole Latin America continent.
Despite his passion for singing, Verástegui opted for an acting career, which has
since proved to be quite a success. His Spanish soap opera and telenovela
appearances include “Mi querida Isabel” (My dear Isabel), “Una Luz en el
Camino” (a Light Upon the Path), “Soñadoras” (Dreamers), “Alma Rebelde”
(Rebellious Soul) and “Tres Mujeres” (Three Women). But it was his 2001
appearance as a sizzling hot gypsy along side Jennifer Lopez in the video “Ain’t
it Funny” that made world headlines and put Verástegui on the map.
His big film break came with Chasing Papi, a romantic comedy co-starring Sofia
Vergara, Rosalyn Sanchez and singer Jaci Velazquez which was then followed
up by guest spots on CSI: Miami, Karen Sisco and Charmed. Most recently, he
starred with fellow Latin heartthrob Carlos Ponce in the upcoming Meet Me in
Miami.
In 2004, Verástegui co-founded Metanoia Films, which is currently producing
their first feature film.
22
TARA LENISTON (Julia)
TARA LOUISE LENISTON was born on May 1, 1983 in Crawley, England but spent
most of her childhood living in various countries around the world including her
family’s native Ireland, Korea, Sweden and Hong Kong.
In 1995, Leniston started on her acting career path while living in Seoul by
appearing in What’s up Doogie, a Korean kids TV program. A year later, the
family moved to London, giving Leniston the opportunity to attend The Arts
Educational School, where she studied Drama for two years. After her studies
were completed, it was off to Hong Kong where Leniston landed a gig working
for Channel V(2000) and was introduced to Jackie Chan. She went on to be
the first western female to be trained and signed by the JC group and her
affiliation with the group then led to a part in the Jackie Chan film Medallion.
In 2003, Leniston moved to New Zealand to star in her first motion picture, Meet
Me in Miami, along side Latin heartthrobs Carlos Ponce and Eduardo
Verástegui. She later went on to do a number of short films and modeling

ABOUT THE FILMMAKERS
ERIC HANNAH (Director/Producer)
They say making movies is just in your blood. And in the case of ERIC HANNAH, it
was blood that launched his career. Fake blood, that is.
This 37-year-old Mission Viejo, CA native grew up fascinated by making movies.
But fascination didn’t turn to bankable industry experience until the sixth grade,
when he ventured out with his dad’s Super 8 camera and started shooting the
first of many campy slasher films starring local kids from the neighborhood. Upon
entering high school, he still found time to dabble in holiday family dramas, even
though he now had his sights set on a football career. In 1986, Hannah headed
off to the University of Colorado with a football scholarship, only to suffer a series
of back injuries, which caused him to miss out on several key games, and
ultimately, playing in the 1990 Orange Bowl season. After graduation and ready
to give up the football dream, he returned home to Orange County and waited
for the next wave of employment inspiration to hit.

It was while working on an independent ski film in 1992 entitled Extreme Attitude
that Hannah had the idea to launch Truth Soul Armor, a retail clothing venture
targeted at the elusive youth generation. Founded with partner, Scott Brinson,
Truth quickly found its audience and credibility.
But even amidst the success generated by Truth Soul Armor, Hannah still felt
called to moviemaking and more specifically, directing. In 1996, Hannah wrote
and directed Moment of Truth, a short film that combined the elements and feel
of reality TV with extreme sports. Overwhelming response paved the way for a
sequel, Moment Of Truth 2, which then led to various directing projects for
Dutch television as well as music videos including Free Ride for Audio Adrenaline
and Rift for Mortal.
Finally in 2001, Hannah released his feature film debut, ExtremeDays – an
homage to his Truth films and the first official extreme sports film to hit theatres.
Opening to positive reviews and respectable box office grosses, ExtremeDays
played in limited release around the country, but generated a buzz worthy of
any major studio summer effort, especially with the teen and youth market.
In 2004, he was called in to co-direct Meet Me in Miami, a romantic comedy
produced by Palm Tree Productions starring Latin heartthrobs Carlos Ponce and
Eduardo Verástegui. Currently, he is developing The Rachel Scott Story, a
chronicle of Columbine tragedy victim, Rachel Scott, in partnership with Palm
Tree Productions.
And Hannah couldn’t be more excited. He’s finally found his place in
Hollywood – living extreme and doing it without the help of those kids from the
old neighborhood.
LISA ABBOTT (Producer)
Growing up in Beverly Hills, LISA ABBOTT had many opportunities to join the
neighborhood kids on the road to a Hollywood profession. But it was boarding a
plane to New Zealand in 1989, that actually launched her film producing career.
A Los Angeles native, Abbott spent her childhood living among the industry elite
and their children in the prestigious 90210 zip code. After graduating from
Beverly Hills High School, she headed off to USC with her sights set on a career in
Finding a Husband. When that didn’t work out, Abbott decided to manage the
family’s real estate properties, which required commuting between California,
Texas, Georgia, Florida and Oklahoma… thus expanding her geographic dating
territory.

Fast forward to 1989. Still single and searching, Abbott decided to pack up all
her belongings, and with only a week’s notice, boarded a plane to New
Zealand. While looking for a place to live, she met her husband-to-be, David,
and after a whirlwind 33-day courtship, the two were married. The newlyweds
wasted no time in starting a family, which has grown to include: Tessa (14),
Brooke (13), Austin (11) and Olivia (10).
In 1996, Abbott found herself disillusioned with the lack of family films she could
experience with her children. Recognizing a niche in the market and a viable
audience, she decided to start her own distribution company, Family Films. This
opened the door to other local industry opportunities ranging from assisting in
the launch of a TV network now known as Shine-TV and executive producing
the TV show, Truth.
It was late 2002 that Abbott took the plunge into developing her first feature film,
now titled, Meet Me in Miami. Produced by her company, Palm Tree
Productions, the film stars Latin heartthrobs Carlos Ponce and Eduardo
Verástegui and is already enjoying quite a buzz within the Latin community.
Abbott is currently developing The Rachel Scott Story, a chronicle of Columbine
tragedy victim, Rachel Scott, in partnership with Eric Hannah and Servant
Productions.
And yes, she’s still happily married.
