PRAISES
God is blessing was
abundantly evident as we
participated in the March
ParentClick Kid’sExpo at a
local shopping mall where
many conversations with
parents and fun and engaging
activities with school-age
children took place. The CEF
table was one of the most
active stations at this event. In
addition to sharing the gospel through the wordless bracelet craft for kids, many parents also heard the gospel, some for the very first time as nine volunteers
participated in this citywide event.
The streamlining of the
committee process is well
under way with at least one
volunteer possessing
appropriate skill sets joining our chapter Board of Directors on
each of the three committees.
March
Program Committee identified
the need to establish set new
volunteer training dates. The
second Saturday of even
numbered months is now set
for four hours of training each
resulting in fully trained new
Good News Club workers every
other month.
PLANS
PRAYERS
High schoolers from an area
Christian school are being
challenged to volunteer for roles
in 5 day clubs this summer and
GNCs next fall as their service to
the community.
GNC directors and volunteers as
they present a five-week series
on the subject "God Cares When
Children are Sad"
Pray also that the
children will find
these messages
relevant and the
Savior as their own. Good health for all of our
amazing volunteers as the year
winds down over the next month
and a half.
Guidance for our Board of
Directors and committees as
they seek God's direction in the
formulation of plans for summer
and fall 2013. C h u r c h e s t o h o s t 5 - D AY
CLUBS during the summer
months. Volunteer training will
take place in early May. God has provided us with a
new part time administrative
assistant, Pamela Van Dyk who
has already taken on much of
the detail and admin load. Pam
is not new to CEF having
served at Foothill School and
currently volunteers at Kellogg
GNC in Goleta.
CAMP GOOD NEWS in SLO
County is scheduled early this
summer following school
closure into July.
We are
looking for camp counselors to
take campers to Lopez Canyon
Bible Camp for one of four
weeks. Contact Mike Patterson,
CEF coordinator at
[email protected] to
learn how you can help.

Every Thursday afternoon at 2:00 a joyful band of 15 to 20 school
children leave their respective classes at Kellogg Elementary to head
for the picnic tables outside the school cafeteria where Diane Lemons
and her band of Good News Club volunteers await with healthy
snacks. The little bulldogs (Kellogg school mascot) are ready for
action.
Once snack is over and everyone is checked in, the group descends
enmasse, usually to room 13, ready for the consistent quality period of
learning of God's love, a story of missionaries, fun games and Bible
memory. The two hours disappear quickly and parents pick their kids
up ready to listen to a moment by moment rehash of the club activities.
