Like a gaunt prospector, belt drawn in over the last ounce of food, OUR PICK
STRUCK GOLD. Joy at our release from a lifetime of frustration knew no bounds...
he has barely scratched a limitless lode which will pay dividends only if he
mines it for the rest of his life and insists on giving away the entire product.

The 58th ICYPAA
WELCOME!
Welcome to the 58th International Conference
of Young People in Alcoholics Anonymous in
Nashville, Tennessee! If you’ve made it from your
home group all the way here you have no doubt
#StruckGold.
So whether you’ve traveled from down the road
or from halfway across the world, we’re glad
you’re here! If this is your first ICYPAA, you’re in
for the time of your life. If you’re an ICYPAA old
timer, welcome home.
We hope you find this weekend filled with
Recovery, Unity, and Service. This conference
is about carrying the message of Alcoholics
Anonymous. It’s about fellowship. It’s about
making new friends, as well as reconnecting
with old ones. As we refocus on the ways we
have struck gold, it is especially about gratitude.
Throughout the weekend, we hope each of
you have an experience that re-energizes your
sobriety, allowing us to return home with a
renewed confidence in the program of Alcoholics
Anonymous.
Nashville, TN
Welcome To Our Southern Home
You
will
quickly
learn
how
Nashville earned the name Music
City USA by stepping out onto
any of the main drags. With more
music venues than coffee shops,
you’ll see why Nashville is such a
special place.
Despite
being
known
for
music,
Nashville is quickly rising to the top
of many other lists, including an
emerging foodie haven, one of the
top cities to visit - filled with charming
neighborhoods sprinkled throughout
the city. Don’t forget to check out the
Grand Ole Opry (located next to the
hotel) where thousands of artists have
played throughout the ages! Wherever
you end up spending your time,
Yours truly, #StruckGoldSquad
we hope you have a truly amazing
experience filled with unforgettable
memories in this #Golden town.

WHAT IS ICYPAA?
International Conference of Young People in Alcoholics Anonymous

The 58th ICYPAA
PAST ICYPAAS
1958 - 1ST ICYPAA
1978 - 21ST ICYPAA
Niagara Falls, NY
Atlanta, GA
Young People’s Groups in Alcoholics Anonymous began appearing
around 1945 in Los Angeles, Cleveland, and Philadelphia. Now they can
be found not only all across North America but all around the world. In
1958, a meeting of young AA’s from across the U.S. and Canada started
what is now the International Conference of Young People in Alcoholics
Anonymous (ICYPAA), and it has met annually ever since. At the 1960 AA
Convention, Bill W. noted the age of new members was much lower than
when he and Dr. Bob founded AA 25 years earlier. In a letter to ICYPAA
dated June 15, 1969, Bill wrote “... in recent years I have found nothing for
greater inspiration than the knowledge that AA of tomorrow will be safe,
and certainly magnificent, in the keeping of you who are the younger generation of AA today.” ICYPAA was founded for the purpose of providing a
setting for an annual celebration of sobriety among young people in AA.
1959 - 2ND ICYPAA
Since its inception, a growing group of people, who at first would not
consider themselves as “young people,” has become regular attendees.
The number of young people suffering from alcoholism who turn to AA
for help is growing, and ICYPAA helps to carry AA’s message of recovery
to alcoholics of all ages. This meeting provides an opportunity for young
AA’s from all over the world to come together and share their experience,
strength, and hope as members of Alcoholics Anonymous. AA members
who attend an ICYPAA return home better prepared to receive young
people who come to AA looking for a better way of life.
1966 - 9TH ICYPAA
ICYPAA provides visible evidence that large numbers of young people are
achieving a lasting and comfortable sobriety in Alcoholics Anonymous.
The three legacies of AA -- Recovery, Unity, and Service -- are the backbone of ICYPAA, just as they are throughout AA. ICYPAA has a long history as an established AA conference. It regularly contributes to the AA
General Service Office, as well as to the Area Service Structure in the local
areas where it is held. ICYPAA and its attendees are also committed to
reaching out to the newcomer, and to involvement in every other facet of
AA service. ICYPAA participants can often be found serving at the national, area, district, and group levels. Newcomers are shown, by people their
own age, that using AA principles in their daily lives and getting involved
in AA service can have a significant impact on a lasting and comfortable
sobriety.

ICYPAA FORUM
REGISTRATION
Modeled after the quarterly Regional Forums hosted by GSO, the ICYPAA
Forum is an opportunity for ICYPAA attendees to help keep the Advisory
Council accountable to those they serve most directly — you. Attendees
may participate in a sharing session, ask any question, and have it
honestly and transparently answered.
Registration will be open the duration of the conference in the locations
listed below as well as a satellite location outside Delta A Ballroom a half
hour before and after main meeting times. Registration will be closed
during main meeting times.
RESPONSIBILITY
STATEMENT
12:00 PM to 12:00 AM
Ryman Studio L
I am Responsible.
When Anyone, Anywhere
Reaches Out For Help,
I Want The Hand Of AA
Always To Be There.
And For That,
I Am Responsible!
We all have been or felt like a newcomer at one time or another, and
ICYPAA can be overwhelming and intimidating even for those with
decades sober. If you see someone that looks lost, upset, or alone please
help by reaching out your hand and saying “hello.”
ANONYMITY
STATEMENT
There may be some here who are not familiar with our tradition of personal anonymity. The public relations policy of Alcoholics Anonymous is based
on attraction rather than promotion. We need always maintain personal
anonymity at the level of press, radio and films. Therefore we respectfully
ask that no AA member be identified by full name or photograph in published or broadcast/social media reports of this meeting. We also alert
members of Alcoholics Anonymous who are concerned about their anonymity to “share in a general way” that cannot identify them from unique
events or circumstances in their life.
