The Ball-Chatham School District is located in southern Sangamon County and includes the southern portion of the capital city of Springfield. The district is composed of 6 schools: 3 elementary (grades PK-4); Glenwood Intermediate School (grades 5-6); Glenwood Middle
School (grades 7-8); Glenwood High School (grades 9-12). The district has a statewide reputation for student excellence in academics,
athletics and the arts.

AWARDS/HONORS
• The Ball-Chatham School District has been named to the 4th Annual AP District Honor
Roll. A total of 477 school districts in the United States and Canada earned a place on
the list. The AP District Honor Roll recognizes efforts to open AP classroom doors to a
significantly broader pool of students, while maintaining or improving the percentage of
students earning scores of three or higher.
• The District has received the Bright A+ Award and Bright Star Award for academic
excellence from SchoolSearch™. These awards are based on those Illinois school districts with
the highest student academic performance at the lowest cost.
• Glenwood High School received a Silver Medal Award by US News in 2012 and 2013 for
academic performance. In addition, athletic teams regularly achieve “State Championship”
levels for their performances. GHS’ performing and visual arts programs also win at regional,
state and even national levels. Glenwood currently offers 16 Advanced Placement (AP)
classes, and nine Dual Credit classes in partnership with Lincoln Land Community College.
