Recamunda THE PRESIDENT’S OUTBOX Sa muli, dinidiwang natin ang Buwan ng Wika, na, sa taong ito, ay may naaangkop na temang, “Wikang Filipino, Wika ng Pagkakaisa”. Ito ay napapanahon dahil kitang-kita natin sa nakaraang bagyong Glenda ang pagsamasama at pagtutulungan nating mga Pilipino sa oras ng pangangailangan. Sa ngayon, ang Pamantasan ng Bicol ay muling nakabangon na at patuloy nang nagbibigay serbisyo sa kanyang mga kliyente, ang mga estudyante. Pinapasalamatan ko ang ating mga butihing dekano na ginawa ang lahat para lang bumalik agad sa normal ang pagpasok ng mga magaaral sa kani-kanilang mga kolehiyo. Inaasahan ko na tuloy-tuloy ang ating pagtahak sa landas patungo sa kaunlaran. Huwag nating hayaang masira ang ating mga pangarap sa harap ng mga natural na kalamidad o ano pa man na mga pagsubok sa ating buhay. Patuloy tayong magkaisa at magtulungan para sa ikabubuti ng pamantasan. Domingo, Albay. During the opening program, BU President Fay M. Lauraya discussed the changes in the international educational landscape, focusing on how these will affect the university, how BU is responding to these changes. This set the scenario against which the different colleges were challenged to prepare their plans and program of activities for the next few years ahead. partnership with the Civil Service Commission (CSC) conducted a training on Frontline Service Provider Empowerment on August 5 at the BUCS Auditorium. The event was aimed at re-orienting BU’s frontline personnel with their duties and responsibilities, and providing a venue for them to pose questions and clarify issues they may have in relation to their job. Through the training, the university’s non-teaching staff are expected to gain more knowledge and skills,and translate these into a higher quality of service to their clientele. Themed, “Bicol University Technologies for Social Entrepreneurship”, the event aimed to inform the university’s stakeholders, particularly those who are prospective consumers or beneficiaries of the university’s research outputs, about the products that have been created by faculty researchers, and how these are useful to the community.A panel of experts were also present to help the researchers package their products and make them more attractive to consumers. Recamunda Bicol University Graduate School (BUGS), in partnership with the US Peace Corps Volunteers in Albay conducted a regional forum on Developing Students’ Critical Thinking Skills and Creativity on August 2 at the BU Amphitheater. The forum is part of BUGS’ Lifelong Learning Program, and aims to (1) develop a deepened understanding and appreciation of the link between people’s critical thinking skills and creativity and a nation’s productivity and progress; (2) adopt teaching approaches/ strategies that will enhance student’s critical thinking skills and creativity; and (3) design a classroom/ school environment that is conducive for the development of students’ critical thinking skills and creativity.
