How is this Useful?
Each type of social media has their own demographic (age,
gender, sexuality, geographic location, race etc.) of people who
use them.
Knowing who you are trying to attract is the key to figuring out
which is useful for attracting people as members, donors and to
attend events.
Example: Green – Any and All
Gwrych Trust Charity Night
• Facebook – create an event and invite all followers, friends, staff
and volunteers to attend
• Twitter – tweet about it, ask followers whether they are coming
• Tumblr – attack of the memes
• Pinterest, Instagram, Flickr – take photos before, during and after
and highlight them on these, tagging people where appropriate
• Google+, LinkedIn – advertise to communities otherwise
unengaged
• YouTube – advertising videos, people recording their experiences
Example: Amber – P2P Communication Only
Conservatory Tower Press Launch
• Facebook – direct message journalists, trustees and other invited
guests; create a secret group
• Twitter – mention anything and everything else that you are doing,
but DM public figure accounts as they are monitored by staff
• Flickr, Instagram – use as press images for post-event coverage
• Pinterest, Tumblr, Google+, LinkedIn – use for direct contact only
otherwise talk about other things
• YouTube – good excuse for promotional video: ‘look who likes us’
Example: Red – Do Not Advertise
Warner Brothers Shooting at Gwrych Castle
• Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, Pinterest, Flickr, Instagram,
YouTube, LinkedIn, Google+ - work with the Marketing
department at Warner Brothers to advertise, work to their
schedule and their press timetable, sneaking images and
information only when they allow
