Shrine Bowl of the Carolina’s select coaches
for the 80th Game
Ron Long, Athletic Director of the Shrine Bowl Of The Carolina’s announced the
Coaches selections for the 2016 North Carolina Tar Heels and the South Carolina
Sandlappers. These Coaches have been selected and approved to coach their respective teams in the 80th Annual Shrine Bowl Game to be played on Saturday,
December 17th at beautiful Gibbs Stadium on the campus of Wofford College in

Shrine East West Game
Representatives from the Shrine Bowl of the Carolinas and Carolina Shrine Centers attended the EastWest Shrine Game at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, FL on Saturday January 23rd. Chairman of
the Board, Ronnie Blount and his wife Jocelyn; General Game Chairman, Jamie Smith; and Shrine
Bowl Administrator, French Harvey and his wife Julie attended the activities at the game. Oasis Potentate, Johnny King, had a contingent of 24 nobles and wives to make the trip and attend the game.
The East-West Shrine Game is the oldest All-Star Game in the country, this year was the 91st game
which includes all-stars from colleges and universities throughout the United States.
The game week activities included a banquet on Friday evening and a tail gate party prior to the 4 pm
kickoff. The game was televised live on the NFL Network.
Clowns and fans enjoyed the tail gate party before the game. Fans from many shrine centers throughout the United States, including Hawaii were in attendance.

Shrine Bowl Gun Raffle
The Shrine Bowl of the Carolinas is conducting our second gun raffle through the months
of February—April, 2016. 20 handguns and 20 long guns, valued from $300.00 to
$1,800 each, will be raffled off to raise funds for the Shrine Bowl of the Carolinas. The
tickets are $20.00 each and include one admittance to the drawing and banquet which
will be held on April 9th, 2016 at the Bill Sapp Recreation Center (6 PM—11 PM),1100
N. Cedar St. Lumberton, NC.. The drawings will start at 6 PM and will include 50/50
drawings every hour.
Guns and Long Rifles to be Raffled
A maximum of 3,000 tickets will be sold and will be available until the event. In the
event that less that 2,000 tickets are sold by April 2nd, 2016, the Shrine Bowl of the Carolinas reserves the right to refund ticket monies to purchasers and cancel the event.
Ticket holders do not have to be present to win. Winners will be awarded a claim ticket,
which must be redeemed in person at Waccamaw Outdoors Supply, Lake Waccamaw,
NC. Prizes will be awarded after verification of ticket, positive identification and background check. In accordance with state and federal law, successful completion of a background check will be required before any person may claim a firearm. Pistol winners
must have or obtain a handgun permit to claim prizes.
Free food, drinks and entertainment will be provided. The Black Water Rhythm and
Blues Band (beach, oldies, and funk) will allow you to dance the

Coach Jarvis Davis was promoted to head football coach at West Mecklenburg High School, Charlotte, NC. Coach Davis played in the 1995 Shrine Bowl representing Spartanburg High School,
Spartanburg, SC. Congratulations Coach!
The Charlotte Observer recently reported on 18 former Observer-area high school football players
who were being honored as part of the NFL’s Super Bowl High School Honor program. The high
schools will be given or have received a Wilson Golden football for every player or head coach who
graduated from the school and was on an active Super Bowl roster. More that 2,000 high schools and
nearly 3,000 players and coaches will be recognized. Of the 18 Charlotte area players that were
identified, five were Shrine Bowl Alumni:

DVD’S OF THE 2015 GAME ARE NOW AVAILABLE
DVD’s of the ESPNU broadcast of the 2015 Shrine Bowl Game are now available for
sale. To order; send a check for $15.00 , made payable to the Shrine Bowl of the Carolinas and send to 377 Rubin Center Dr. Suite 106, Ft. Mill, SC 29708. Game Programs
are also available—$5.00. There are also a limited number of pre-2015 game videos

Former U.S. President Jimmy Carter and Mrs. Carter Announced
As Ambassadors for Shriners Hospitals for Children
TAMPA, FL—February 1, 2016 Shriners Hospitals for Children® is pleased to announce former
U.S. President Jimmy Carter and Mrs. Carter have become ambassadors for the organization.
As part of their support, Nobel Peace Prize recipient and noted humanitarian Mr. Carter appears in a Valentine’s Day themed Shriners Hospitals for Children public service announcement (PSA).
