Untitled - Broadway Church
WHAT PEOPLE ARE SAYING “I have a true passion for music and worship, and played a lot at my church back in my home country (Brazil). Coming to Broadway and being given the opportunity to volunteer was something I was really grateful for, because it allowed me to continue to feel like I had something to both give back to God and also was a great way to get connected right away and meet people who have quickly become my friends.” - Felipe Lisboa “Volunteering is a great experience for anyone. The friendships you develop with the kids lasts forever. Knowing that someone looks up to you honestly means so much to you, and inspires you to become a better person. Trust me!” - Jeremiah Modino “I love volunteering at Broadway Church because of their vision and compassion, to minister to the whole person, in a tangible, spiritual and emotional way. I also consider it a very high calling the Lord has placed on my life. "For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them." Eph. 2:10 He has chosen the local church and gifted each one of us to fulfill His purposes. I have had so many amazing opportunities at Broadway Church for serving the Lord, and the friendships forged when volunteering together, are immensely rewarding. ” - Gwen Marriott Pastor’s Message We were created to live for others, not for ourselves. It’s how we were made; it’s what we were wired and designed by God to do. It’s like God has woven some mysterious ‘superhero gene’ deep into the fabric of every one of us, so that we actually long to serve others. And when we do serve others: it doesn’t drain us, it energizes us! When we live to bring positive change to other lives – it brings positive change into our own lives. God has designed it so that when we build others up, we build ourselves up at the same time! No matter how small or how large the act of kindness and service, the result is the same: everyone wins! It’s what Jesus modeled and it’s what Jesus commanded. It is our hope and prayer that you will step up and step into your unique place of service and ministry. According to the Bible, that’s where we, as pastors and leaders come in: we’re here to help you find and live your biblical destiny (Ephesians 4:12). Consider this booklet to be just one small step in that journey… Darin Latham Lead Pastor Index Worship Ministries - Pastor Phil Spoelstra.............................................. 1 General............................................................................................................................. 1 Tech................................................................................................................................... 2 Annual Singing Christmas Tree..................................................................................... 2 Prayer Ministry............................................................................................................... 3 Discipleship Ministries - Pastor Mick Nelson.......................................... 4 General............................................................................................................................. 4 Children’s Ministries - Pastor Dave & Cheryl McManus............................................. 5 Youth Church - Pastor Lewis Chifan.............................................................................. 7 Young Adults / Young Marrieds - Simon Gau............................................................... 7 Fellowship Ministries - Pastor Paul Starratt............................................ 8 Outreach Ministries..................................................................................10 General........................................................................................................................... 10 CityReach Care Society - Tammy Cheetham............................................................... 10 Service Ministries - Steve Clifford..........................................................11 General........................................................................................................................... 11 Food Services................................................................................................................. 11 Targeted Ministries...................................................................................12 Translation Ministry..................................................................................................... 12 International Students Club........................................................................................ 13 Ministry Opportunities @ Broadway Please note this list is subject to change without notice! WHAT PEOPLE ARE SAYING “I really enjoy volunteering as a greeter positioned at the doors of Broadway Church. Greeting for many years, I found a first impression is important to folks coming in. It is a joy to see the smiles on their faces as we approach them and make them feel this is the right place to be.” - Lucille Loose “During our time at Broadway Church (over 30 years), I taught and led many large and small study groups. It’s been a most rewarding involvement to explore God’s Word together with others - to gain wisdom and real application to life. Here is the latest confirmation of the value of volunteering in the words of one of the small group participants: ‘I feel so fortunate to have met you and your wife as well as so many other people at Broadway Church who are fantastic spiritual leaders and great, positive people to be around. I continue to reflect on what you taught us in the Beta class during our group discussions and I know I will for years to come. And yes - God is working in my life. It is amazing.’” - Walter Behnke “I enjoy being a volunteer usher as it gives me the opportunity to make all who enter our church welcome and especially newcomers that are looking for a church home. This gives me a sense of satisfaction.” - Ollie Draheim Interested? Contact Annette Chia at [email protected] or call the church office, 604-253-2700 ext 241
