Margarita Camarena is a graduate of the SF School
of Massage and Bodywork. She became Reiki Master
Teacher under RMT Dr. Eric Rubin. In 1996, she
graduated from the Berkeley Psychic Institute and two
years later she completed her B.A. and B.S. at UC Davis
in the fields of Art Studio and Environmental Design.
Bodywork and Reiki has become a natural extension of
the work she has been doing over the years working with
color, energy, spirit and creative visualization.
We are living in a time like no other. The ancient
Maya knew that our current era would come to
end now, and the date most agreed upon is the
winter solstice on December, 21, 2012. Change
is a process though, and we all have been witnessing this on many levels over the past years.
It is more important than ever to claim our own
power now.
With this retreat we want to bring you to the
mystical Mayan lands, to give you back a tool
that has always belonged to you. Reiki is within
you; it is life force energy that needs to be
aligned, reactivated, empowered and sealed.
Being attuned to Reiki will strengthen you to
be a conscious, active participant during the
shift. We will begin our attunement process
on Thursday’s New Moon, which is preceeded
by a Mayan Portal Day, where humans are
especially receptive to source energy as
Galactic Activation Portals.

After a trip to the archaeological site in Coba, you will be initiated with a temazcal ceremony
for spiritual cleansing. The power of the New Moon will support us in setting our intentions
for the highest possible good to come through our attunement process and our entire
retreat, as well as its long-lasting effects thereafter. We will explore the amazing ecosystem of
Sian Ka’an, following ancient Mayan trade routes used 1200 years ago, and seeing the
abundant flora and fauna unique to Sian Ka’an. More to be unveiled upon arrival!

Eco-cultural tours in the Riviera Maya
Reiki is an accient healing practice with Tibetan, Buddhist
roots. It was rediscovered by Dr. Mikao Usui in Japan
during the 19th century. Reiki is regarded as a path of spiritual
growth and personal development.
Project Mayan Encounter was launched in 2008, and is all
about creating meaningful travel alternatives—in harmony
with nature, environment and local people; and nourishing
body, mind and soul. The tours we selected scratch the
surface of an incredibly diverse environment. Just some
highlights: the Great Mesoamerican Barrier Reef for snorkeling
& scuba diving, whale sharks, lagoons, white sand beaches,
underground river system and cenotes (sweet water ponds
and caves), jungle & wildlife, colonial towns, Mayan temples
and culture, today’s Mayan communities, and so much more.
We have composed a combination of culture, nature and
relaxation for you, to blend with your Reiki class.
In the first degree of Reiki you will find out how to use Reiki to
heal yourself and others – physically, mentally, and emotionally.
You will learn how to apply it to heal relationships, situations;
and how to apply to yourself before going into a stressful
situation. We will work with the power of intention and the
understanding of healing versus curing. With focused intention
and attention through Reiki, you will innevitably create a
shift in your life and those around you.
We will look into the history and philosophy. We will learn
about the chakra system, our etheric body, and our anatomy.
We will have a lot of hands-on practice to get a good grasp of
how to feel and see subtle energy. We will learn to diferenciate
our own energy versus others. By the end of the class, you
will know how to perform a full healing session, and a full
session on others, as well as the work enviroment, plants,
animals, places and things.
In designing our retreat, we wanted to leave enough space
for relaxation and personal sessions with Margarita. Those of
you who are more active, and want to experience more than
the 2 guided tours that are part of the retreat, can opt for
an additional afternoon trip to swim in a cenote; or a trip to
Xpu-Ha beach, where we would stay for dinner at Al Cielo;
a day-trip to visit the ancient city of Chichen Itza (one of
the 7 Modern World Wonders); or to the magical Ek Balam
archaeological site. Prices depend the number of participants,
and we have more details upon arrival.
Posada Mariposa
When looking for the ideal place to rest and safely unwind
after your Reiki class, tours and activities, Posada Mariposa
was the perfect choice. Posada Mariposa will be your home
for 7 days and 6 nights, and the place to regenerate your body
after the energetic processes during your Reiki initiation and
the attunements. The boutique hotel is situated on Playa del
Carmen’s famous 5th Avenue , La Quinta Avenida. It’s two
blocks off the white sand beach , and the hotel shares a beach
club with discounted beach chair rentals. Posada Mariposa
uses La Vagabunda to serve breakfast, which is right across
the street (pedestrian zone). You are well situated for an
endless beach walk to reflect your experiences, or stroll up
and down the pedestrian zone on La Quinta.
