IAIN BOYD • • Member of Bergengren Credit Union for 50 years Member of the Bergengren Board since 2002; served as vice-chair and served on executive, compensation, policy, education, premises, donations, and community giving committees • Graduate of the Credit Union Director Achievement Program • Degree in Business Administration, employed as a university administrator for over 30 years • Thorough knowledge of the regions served by Bergengren Credit Union. Brings a strong understanding of the issues facing the credit union movement. Knowledgeable about the many opportunities that are available to strengthen Bergengren Credit Union. • Community involvement includes: Past President Antigonish Highland Society, Vice Chair St. Ninian’s Parish Council, Board Member, The Casket Printing and Publishing co., President Antigonish Highland Society Pipe Band, Executive Director, Scotia Highland Dancers Troupe. DAVID HARRISON • • • • • • • Long time Credit union member, 17 years credit union board membership. Present vice chair of Bergengren board, serving on executive and as chair of credit and amalgamation committees, also served on policy and green committees. Past director of New Glasgow and Cabri Credit Union (Saskatchewan), served on all committees while on those boards and as chair for both boards. Chair of Anglican Churches of Pictou County, member of Parish Council and past Senior Warden of Christ Church, Stellarton. Retired teacher and school administrator, former co-owner with my wife of small successful business, moved to Lorne seven years ago. Graduate of the Credit Union Director Achievement Program Proud to be a member of Bergengren credit union. I have enjoyed my past three years on the Bergengren board and would welcome the opportunity to continue to contribute to our success. Business Administration Degree from St. Francis Xavier University (1989) Husband of Elizabeth and Father of Liam, Luke and Maura I feel that my experience as a small business owner and active member of the community would be a benefit to the Board of Directors. Board of Directors Election: 2010 Candidates BERNIE MACDOUGALL • • • • • • • Professional status: Retired teacher having served as an educator for 31 years in Antigonish, all at St. Andrew Junior School Community involvement: previous activity included coaching at the Jr. School level ball, soccer and hockey. Long time involvement with Antigonish Minor Hockey as coach and division head both on rep teams as well as House League. Active fund raising with community branch for Millennium centre Previous activity with church groups as well as community political parties. Past president of the Antigonish-Guysborough Retired Teacher’s Organization Presently, have served for one year as a Director of the Bergengren Credit Union, serving on the Policy and Education committees Married to Anne with four adult children and a “proud papa” to two grandchildren RUTH THOMPSON • • • • • • Credit Union member of since 1974 Served on New Glasgow Credit Union Board from 1999 to 2007 and Bergengren Board from 2007 to 2009, former Chair of New Glasgow Credit Union While on Bergengren’s Board served on the Credit, Green, Education and Community Involvement Committees Completed all of the director training courses mandated by the Credit Union Act and is a graduate of the Credit Union Director Achievement Program Charter member of Pictou County Co-op, Treasurer of the Plymouth Community and Recreation Association, enthusiastic member of the Bluenose Curling Club I have enjoyed the10 years spent with credit unions. It has given me a new understanding of the role we can all play in developing a more responsible and compassionate approach of dealing with the financial needs of our members. BILL TIMMONS • • Bergengren member for 38 years Served on the board for 6 years in the 1980s, rejoined 5 years ago, served on every committee, and chaired or co-chaired, credit, education, nominations, anniversary, Film Project and green committee • Currently serving on executive, compensation, audit, education, negotiations and amalgamation committees • Volunteerism work: People’s School, Cancer Society, St. Martha’s, St. Ninian’s, Minor Hockey and Soccer, Antigonish Aquanauts, “You Can Do It” DVD (the story of the Antigonish Movement) and TFFL (Task Force for Financial Literacy). • Graduate of Credit Union Director Achievement Program • I believe I have a lot to offer to the board both in experience, and leadership. I am a former high school teacher, now working part time as a faculty advisor at St.FX.
