The Trust was formed from the Leadership of Deyes High following successful collaborative
working and school to school support in the North-West. The Trust currently consists of
Deyes High School, Childwall Sports and Science Academy and a brand new Studio School
opening September 2015.

Our School
Deyes High School is an over-subscribed, high performing, specialist school which is an Academy
converter. As a school we benefit from a Science Specialism. We have a large community of students who
are eager to learn and currently total 1334 (approximately 250 in the Sixth Form).
We, as a school community, have a great deal to be proud of. Our last full OFSTED considered us to be
‘Good’, further confirmed by a positive Ofsted desktop analysis in April 2014. This is also reflected in our
results which are consistently good. However, our ambition is to be outstanding in all areas. We want you
to come and help us achieve that.
Alongside, and no less important, is our excellent performance. We work hard to ensure that Deyes
offers a friendly, welcoming and enriching environment for all, including those who work, visit and study
here.
Whilst we are proud of our achievements, we strive to improve year on year whilst maintaining the
happy atmosphere for which we are renowned. We match our goals by the whole school community
working together as a team.

Job purpose:
To work under the instruction/guidance of senior staff, providing general support in
the performing arts faculty and conducting performing arts related duties across the
whole school, including preparation and maintenance of resources and providing
support to staff and students.
This job description is current at the date shown, but following consultation with you, may be changed

Technical aid for lessons (ICT/Audio/Visual)

Stock maintenance and upkeep of EPA technical equipment

To use specialist skills, training and experience to support student
activities under the guidance of the class teacher.

Establish good working relationships with students, acting as a role
model.

Encourage students to act independently as appropriate.

Promote inclusion and acceptance of all students

Promote self-esteem and independence.

Create and maintain, a purposeful, orderly and productive working
environment.

To design, prepare and maintain specialist equipment/resources as
required by staff, the curriculum and lesson plans and assist others
in their use.

Assist in the development of lesson plans and coursework and
maintain records as requested.

Support the exams process and the marking of students’ work as
required.

Assist the teacher with learning activities ensuring health and safety
and good behaviour of students.

Provide minimal clerical/admin support e.g. photocopying, printing,
creating displays etc. as required.

To contribute to the planning, development and organisation of
systems, procedures and policies.

budget, cataloguing resources and undertaking audits as required.

Maintaining specialist equipment, checking for quality and safety in
accordance with instructions, undertaking repairs/modifications within
own capabilities and reporting other damages/needs to the
appropriate person, and arranging for repairs and modifications to be
carried out.

Preparing requisitions for new stock/supplies under the direction of the
appropriate person as required.

Demonstrating the safe and effective use of specialist equipment/
materials.

Undertaking structured
programmes.

Provide support to after school functions such as parents evenings, drama,
music events etc.

Be aware of and comply with school policies and procedures relating
to child protection, health, safety and security, confidentiality and data
protection, reporting all concerns to an appropriate person.

Contribute to the school ethos, aims and development/improvement
plan.

Be aware of and support difference and ensure all students have
equal access to opportunities to learn and develop, respecting their
social, cultural, linguistic, religious and ethnic backgrounds.

Work as part of a team, appreciating and supporting the role of other

Attend and participate in meetings as required.

Assist with the supervision of students out of directed lesson time,
including before and after school, if appropriate and within working


