Your
“La Pine Rocks! ” Chamber Connection
“We are the hub of the business community, promoting commerce and tourism making La Pine a vibrant community to work, live and play!”
JAKE RUSSELL EXCAVATION – Owners: Jake and Desiree Russell
“So, Jake and Desiree, when did you open the business? “We opened in October of 2005.”
Are you the main players at Jake Russell Excavation? “Yes, Jake is the head operator on all his job sites and I
help him at home with the secretarial duties.”
Why do you work, live and play in La Pine? “Jake has lived in La Pine his entire life and has built a great
reputation for himself here. We have a great list of loyal customers who appreciate Jake's hard work and many
years of experience.”
What is the potential for growth for an excavation company like yours? “While we do appreciate the freedom
of our small business while raising a family, we have considered growing our business many times. We just
purchased a brush truck this summer for hauling brush and debris and we are always considering ways to
broaden our horizons, however we are very grateful for what we have and it is very important to us to provide
our customers with the personal attention that they deserve.”
What is your business’s greatest challenge? “We have been very lucky to stay busy in this economy. Hard work
and happy customers have been a big part of our success.”
What is the biggest highlight of your career? “Jake is very proud to be able to operate his own successful
business to provide for our family. We are very blessed. “
What do you do to relax? “Spending time together as a family, especially while our kids are young, is very
important to us. We love to go hunting, camping, hiking, fishing and riding horses together.”
Tell us something about yourself that few people know about: “Grandpa Marvin said that you have to take
chances to succeed. We have inherited that creative Russell gene for making the next thing we do work out well.”
In terms of volunteering in the community, what is your personal contribution to the community? “We have coached and managed baseball in La Pine for 8 years now, along with the All Star teams.
Jake has also volunteered many hours and equipment time working on the Finley Butte Fields. We love helping out at various sporting events throughout the year and donating to tournaments, fundraisers,
and events within our community, whenever we can.”
What are your plans for the future? We are very happy to be raising our family in Central Oregon and look forward to the continued growth and development of a small town. Whether it's regular
maintenance in grading a driveway, septic repairs, or clearing a lot and building a new home, it's very exciting to be a part of the growth of our community.”
Do you have a mission? “Our mission is to provide professional, honest work, guaranteed and we look forward to helping out those in need, however we can.”
