A Mass Intention is when you have a Mass said for someone who has passed away or for something that is very important example: wedding anniversary, birthday. Call the parish office today for a mass. To Know Jesus We know many people and we don’t always like them. Sometimes knowledge leads to love and other times to indifference, suspicion, or even hatred. What is always true, however, is that we cannot love what we do not know. Therefore, we cannot love Jesus if we do not him well: his identity, his works, and his words. But, what does knowing Jesus mean? There are may ways to know things. We can know something in our minds, just as when we learn concepts, data or ideas. We can study for an exam or a test for a job. But all that knowledge, important as it is and often transformative of our course in life, does not normally touch the depths of our hearts and persons. We can know the figure of Jesus studying books about the historical person, his time and even his words and works without, however, coming to personally know the living Jesus. Knowing Jesus is more than all that: it means having had an encounter with Him so that the eyes of the mind and the heart understand and come to passionately love Christ. This means also to recognize his union with the Father. And that is precisely what Jesus came to earth to do. Coming into such a deep knowledge that all become one with him. What for? So that all enjoy the same glory: that is, the perfect joy of being with God. There are many trials, sufferings and anxieties in this world. But those who know Christ know well that what they have, that the promise, surpasses by far anything that can happen here on earth. Those who know Christ know the final hope. Those who know Christ know that life and death, assumed by Christ in his coming to the world to be like us, have been totally transformed. By the coming of Jesus, by his death and, above all, by his resurrection, we know that our humanity has been transformed and liberated. Knowing Christ is to have an inner conviction that the self-giving of Christ gives us life and saves us. Knowing Christ, therefore, is much more that an intellectual idea, necessary as it is. It means such a deep love for him that it leads us to live like Him: in service to others, in self-giving even with our own sacrifice, in the hope of resurrection, and in a deep and intense joy: we belong to God. Knowing Jesus is entering his intimacy, being closely and deeply united. For Reflection How is my personal encounter with the living Christ? In which ways do I know Jesus? In which ways is my life a reflection of the life of Jesus?
