Dear Friends,
Our shelters have been very full this summer. Yesterday, one
of our families moved into permanent housing (yay!!). This is
what we work for with each family we serve and it is always exciting when it happens. I will be putting another family in that unit
very soon.
Thanks to everyone who has donated to our program this
spring and summer. We are very grateful . . . and so are our residents!
If your garden is producing in abundance and you have more
than you can use, please give the office a call. Our residents really
appreciate fresh fruits and vegetables. I’ve given vegetables and
strawberries out to residents this year and seen big smiles! Food is
always an issue for our residents and they are happy to see me
bring fresh produce.
Plans are already in the works for our 14th Annual Chili Feed
on Sunday, November 2nd. The place we will hold our fundraiser
will be determined in the next few weeks. Watch our October
newsletter, posters, and newspaper ads for the location. Mark your
calendar and invite a friend or two. We always have a good time!
Summer is going fast. It’s hard to believe that the new school
year will be coming up soon. Enjoy the rest of your summer!

Mark your calendars!
We’d love to see you there.
On Wednesday, May 14, Mr. Jensen from the
Amery High School brought twelve students to
the Partnership House and they spent the morning
doing yard work, organizing storage, cleaning a
unit, and organizing our garage. They did a super
job and we want to thank them for the immense
amount of work they did. Grateful thanks go to:
Chyanne Schutts, Hannah Fornengo, Brianna
Iverson, Olivia Jensen, Alicia Cran, Katlyn
Fouks, Allyson McQuade, Jordan Dudgeon, Brandon DeSota, Matt Wanless, Marko Uzeirovic,
Cole Jakupciak, and (of course) Mr. Jensen!!!
We could not have accomplished this amount of
work without you. You are a blessing to our program.

Bleach
Shaving cream
Size 5 diapers
No tears shampoo or baby shampoo
Dish soap
We are totally out of or low on these items. Any

Northwoods Homeless Shelters has received
a generous $3,250 grant from The United Way
St. Croix Valley for case management, utilities,
food, and transportation.
Thank you! Your support has strengthened
our program and made a difference in our residents’ lives.
A special thank you to the owners and staff of
Ida Mae’s Café for choosing Northwoods Homeless Shelters as the recipient of the food, paper
products, and monetary donations from their
“Give Back to the Community Day,” hosted on
Sunday, April 6, in celebration of the 3rd year
anniversary of the opening of their restaurant.
Almost 31# of food and paper products were donated. Barb and Roger matched this, so we received 62# of food and paper products that will
go to support those in our shelter. Financial donations that came in totaled $188.36. So, with
the match, our program received $376.72. We
are so grateful for your support. You are such a
blessing to our program and our residents appreciate the donations that are passed on through
your generosity.

On May 1st, Amery Chevrolet hosted a fundraiser to
benefit Northwoods Homeless Shelters. The staff
worked very hard and the event was so much fun!
Many women attended and there was so much to see
and do! The food was great. There was wine and
beer tasting. There were so many vendors tables
with all kinds of merchandise to buy. It was a fun,
relaxing time with friends. That night, Amery
Chevrolet and everyone that participated in the event
raised $1,862.00 for our homeless shelter program.
Thank you to everyone who supported us during this
fundraiser and thanks to everyone at Amery Chevrolet for all their hard work and effort. We are grateful to be chosen as the beneficiary of this event.
Everyone we shelter will benefit from the money
that you raised.
On April 29, Northwoods
Homeless Shelters participated in Give Big Osceola, a
24-hour event that supported non-profits in Polk
County. Some very generous donors provided matching dollars during this fundraiser so many
people that donated to our organization were
able to double their contribution! We hosted a
live event from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Ida Mae’s
Café in Amery. The director and some board
members were there and we were able to visit
with those people that dropped in. On this
day, $4,017.00 was raised for the operations of
our shelters. Thank you so much to all who
gave so generously to our organization. The
homeless persons we serve benefit from every
dollar that was given!!
