Smart External Micro-pod Sensor 7 Presence Detection Traditionally, spaces such as petrol station forecourts remain lit all night (and often all day) even when occupancy is low. The Smart External Micro-pod Sensor built into each Canolux LED luminaire allows the luminaires to be switched off or dimmed down to a low output level when the area is unoccupied. As soon as the sensor detects movement, the luminaire will return back to full output. Presence detection parameters can be adjusted using a hand-held infra-red Smart External Programmer (see pages 14-15). Canolux LED Smart External The world’s ever increasing demand for energy is rapidly changing our environment and the need for energy efficiency in every aspect of our daily lives has never been greater. Combining programmable presence detection and light sensing with seven day programmable switching schedules massive, energy savings and extended maintenance cycles are possible. “Smart External” is the latest addition to the Thorlux range of control systems bringing intelligent lighting control to a new range of exterior LED based luminaires. Truly fit and forget lighting. 8 Ambient Light Control The Smart External Micro-pod Sensor incorporates an ambient light sensor which will enable at dusk and disable at dawn. Ambient light level switching can be adjusted using a hand-held infra-red Smart External Programmer (see pages 14-15). ENERGY SAVE MONEY SAVE THE ENVIRONMENT SAVE 9 Motionline Scenarios (Platforms 2 & 3) Master Motionline Motionline 1 Motionline 2 PLATFORM 3 : TIME AND WEB BASED CONTROL Offers time schedule control, so that luminaires may be switched off when not needed (can be remotely configured through a secure web-site). It also allows local configuration and manual override (Smart External Controller required). The Smart External system can operate at three different levels (platforms) offering increasing functionality. PLATFORM 1 : STAND-ALONE The simplest level. Each luminaire operates as a stand-alone item. PLATFORM 2 : MOTIONLINE LINKED Groups of luminaires are linked with a two-core bus, called the Motionline, allowing each luminaire to pass presence detection to all luminaires within the group (see diagram above). 10 DESCRIPTION CAT. The system allows re-programming at any time should the lighting emphasis need changing. Forecourts can be set as required with an emphasis on the following scenarios (see diagram above): A : BEST APPEARANCE Realising energy savings whilst keeping an ‘open for business’ feel. B : MAXIMUM ENERGY SAVINGS for the lowest running costs. 14 Lighting Zone A - BEST APPEARANCE B - MAXIMUM ENERGY SAVING ZONE 1 On at 30% output. Switched off when daylight, on all night at 30% output. ZONE 2 Switched off when sufficient daylight, on all night at full output. Switched off when sufficient daylight, dims down to 30% 5 minutes after last detected movement. ZONE 3 Switched off when sufficient daylight, at night dims to 30% 5 minutes after last detected movement. Stays at 30% until dawn, or next detected movement. Switched off when sufficient daylight, dims down to 30% after 5 minutes, then switches off 10 minutes later if no further movement is detected. ZONE 4 Switched off when sufficient daylight, at night dims to 30% 5 minutes after last detected movement. Stays at 30% until dawn, or next detected movement. Each luminaire can be tailored to suit its own very specific local requirements. n The main programmable features are: n Security level (see also Security delay) - Can be set anywhere between minimum and maximum. Factory setting 30%. n PIR sensitivity - May be adjusted to suit conditions. n No presence delay - After a variable delay (30 seconds to 10 hours) the luminaires turn off or go to the Security Level. Factory setting - 5 minutes ➡ 30% ➡ continuous security level . n Lights on setting - Completely variable. Factory setting approximately 200lux. n DESCRIPTION CAT. No. Smart External Programmer SC 14228 n APPROX. kg 0.4 16 Min lamp - The minimum dim level of the lamps can beset. Factory setting 10%. Max lamp - The maximum lamp level can be set to tune the levels to local conditions. Factory setting 100%. Security delay - This allows an interim delay (30 seconds to 10 hours, or continuous) at Security level. For example, all luminaires around the forecourt may be set to switch off except for entrance/exit areas which will reduce to 50%, for a further 3 hours (assuming no presence detected) or whilst the forecourt is open. Alternatively as a security feature, perhaps 1 in 5 lights may be kept on continuously at any chosen level and only increase to full brilliance when a person or car enters the forecourt or space.
