Painting
Title: Camel Team.
Artist: Greg Brennan
Medium: Oil.
Price:$970
About the artwork:
In the past the Afghan camel drivers were credited
with all the carrying work with camels. On investigating this I found this was not necessarily correct as
there were quite a number of Australian camel teamsters. I tried to bring this to life with what little information was available and give due credit to their contribution to this industry
Title: One of those days
Artist: Greg Brennan
Medium: Oil
Price: $1,950
About the artwork: I saw a photo of a wagon
turned over looking the front . In this painting I
turned it around so you could see what could be involved in getting it back on its wheels. Such as getting
the bales off and setting the team to pull it back on its
wheels. Before the advent of mechanical transport
wool carriers tried to work in a group so that they had
additional labour for events like this.
Title: On the day God rested
Artist: Greg Brennan
Medium: Oil
Price: $1,950
About the artwork: God created the world and
when he did Australia he did such a magnificent job
he did not do any more so on the seventh day he
rested.
Title: Through the Breelong
Artist: Greg Brennan
Medium: Oil
Price: $1,850
About the artwork: During the 1980‘s I worked on
a new bridge at Breelong which was a small village
between Gilgandra and Mendooran. During this period I got to know the chap who owned the property
adjoining the bridge his name was Bob Gilmour (now
deceased) he showed me a large wagon in his shed
that he used to haul his wool clip from Breelong,
through the Breelong Forest, to the railhead at Balladoran. The painting was inspired by a series of photos he showed me of this event.

Title: ‗Purple Abstract Dreaming‘
Artist: Margaret Beck
Medium: Acrylic on canvas
Price: $600
About the artwork:
For this piece I have drawn from my rural surroundings the colours which I encounter often, like the mountains, smoky haze, the
myriad of sky colours on a turbulent day, bluebells, water and even
a lizard with a pretty tongue. Although this painting has an urban,
blunt, angular feel about it I have incorporated the wildness of the
scrub, dry grass and moonlight effects.
This art piece is a favourite of mine because of its diversity.
Title: Finish Line
Artist: Rachel Cant
Medium: Pastel on Paper
Price: $780
About the artwork: "Finish Line" tells a
story of tension and relief. Storms had been
rumbling around the area all afternoon, and
now the marathon was almost over. The sky
had built up to a finale when the header, full
with its final box of wheat for the season, triumphantly flies with comb up across the paddock to unload. The
dust of the approaching storm chasing it. Prayers answered. I wanted to create tension between the threatening clouds and the tiny red harvester, and create the feeling of being "on the edge of one's seat".
Title: Autumn
Artist: Deirdre Edwards.
Medium: Intaglio etching—handcoloured
Price: $540
About the artwork:
―Autumn‖ depicts the untold beauty of a changing season.
My creative formula involves using an individual, unique
technique that engages the viewer to interpret the story behind the subject.
I enjoy using earth, ochres and found objects to achieve desired effects. Photopolymer etchings is one of those mediums that allows me, as an artist to use all of the
above skills, merging mixed mediums to develop a combination that encompasses the fundamental nature of
my subject. Even during the process of converting a simple drawing into an intaglio etching the use of alternate mediums to generate subtle textures or colour tones alters the outcome.

Title: John Flynn‘s Safety
Mantel over the Outback
Artist: Jenny Greentree
Medium: Pastel
Price: $2,800
About the work: When this
exhibition was titled Landscape, Legends and Lifelines,
honouring John Flynn as an
Australian Legend was a very
obvious choice to me. Thousands of Australians have been rescued by the lifeline of the Royal Flying Doctor Service (often referred to as the safety mantle over the outback) that he established. Having recently explored the
Lake Eyre Basin, I was very motivated to paint this vast outback landscape between William Creek
and Lake Eyre.
Title: Sand and the Castlereagh
Artist: Su Hely
Medium: Oil on canvas
Price: $950
About the artwork: ‗Sand & The
Castlereagh‘ was painted at my
home on the Castlereagh in
Coonamble. Almost every day
(before the floods) I walked along
the sand bed of the Castlereagh
with my dogs behind my home. To
me this is a most magic place.
Title: Come-by-Chance Races
Artist: Anne Murray
Medium: Watercolour on paper
Price: $950
About the artwork: I painted this picture because I like the fact that people
even from their back view are recognizable
from their mannerisms. I really enjoy
painting people either in portrait form,
capturing their expressions or figures as in
this painting. The "Come by Chance Picnic
Races" event is a legend in this region.
Painting
Title: Untitled
Artist: Andrew Leonard

Australia.
Title: Fisherman
Artist: Susan Lawrance
Medium: Acrylic on
Price: $20,000

Whilst travelling along the NSW North Coast I came

myself and capture the moment.

Painting
Title: Lost in Darkness
Artist: Helena Ross
Medium: Charcoal
Price: $375
About the artwork:
Since the dawn of human history people‘s minds were ruled
and dominated by fear and hope of the invisible and impalpable powers behind the phenomena of nature and life.
In our time symbols and signs such the cross are still an integral part of our communication with our fellow person and I
wanted to portray this struggle through my artwork
Title: Cloud reflections
Artist: Janet Smith
Medium: Oil on canvas
Price: $450
About the artwork:
In this painting I wanted to capture the

As the landscape moves in gentle curves and

men. The right-hand panel tells the story of the

Title: The mighty Holden
Artist: Viki Murray
Medium: Photography
Price: $450
About the artwork: This work is part of a series of
works called Gnarly Relics. The collection is a
celebration of the rustic old relics that inhabit my
environment. Accentuating the texture and colour
selectively adds a soul to the mighty old beast and also
shows the soul of Lightning Ridge; which is rough,
rustic and honest.
Title: What a Legend
Artist: Viki Murray
Medium: Photography
Price: $300
About the artwork: The old wool press speaks for
itself really. A grand old legend! The technique I have
used here was with the intention of adding romance to
a piece of machinery that has a rich history and whilst
being a very commonly used utility in its‘ day, is also a
beautiful piece of craftsmanship that says a lot about
our rural history. Like the old Holden Ute, it is rustic
and honest and a classic piece of art, with a soul.
Whilst modern machinery and vehicles are slick and
shiny and efficient, they pale in comparison to the endearing qualities of these two legends of the outback
and Australian history.
Photography
Title: Drought
Artist: Neville Owens
Medium: Photography
Price: $460
About the artwork: During the 2002-2003

This photograph captures another side of the
drought and different sense of community.
Title: Solar Powered Sunset
Artist: Larry Rindfleish
Medium: Photography
Price: $650
About the artwork:
Easily mistaken for satellite dishes, this
was Australia‘s first solar Power Station situated at White Cliffs in New
South Wales. Although no longer used
to generate electricity, the Power Station remains and in this photo it is silhouetted against a magnificent outback
sunset.
Title: Specular Beauty
Artist: Larry Rindfleish
Medium: Photography
Price: $650
About the artwork: ‘Specular‘, meaning to have the properties of a mirror, is
how I describe this photograph.
Taken while looking into Fern Pool at the
bottom of Dales Gorge in Western Australia‘s beautiful Karijini National Park, the
water reflects the surroundings with mirror like clarity, the ripples adding an artistic look.
Although framed as it was taken, turning this photograph up-side down reveals the true beauty
of the gorge walls, the trees and the clear blue sky, and a little imagination could turn the leaves
floating on the water into birds flying above.

Title: Archibald Fountain
Artist: Mardi Remond
Medium: Photography
Price: $150
About the artwork:
The Archibald Fountain is located in Hyde Park, Sydney. It is a very challenging photographic subject. It was
the combination of the majestic bronze sculptures and
the way the sunlight ―hits‖ the water from the fountain
sprays that kept me returning to photograph the fountain, when in Sydney, until I captured an image that I
hope does this iconic Australian landmark justice.
After living with the ―climatic challenges‖ of western
NSW the attraction of art and particularly, water, provides a welcome diversion.
Title: Phyllis
Artist: Mardi Remond
Medium: Photography
Price: $150
About the artwork:
‘During October 2010, while on a trip ―up north‖ to visit
my son who was working on an east Kimberley cattle
station, we stopped in Halls Creek, WA. I got talking to
Phyllis, who is a long time resident of Halls Creek. She
was a very humble lady of seemingly little material
wealth, who had a great knowledge of the history of the
area and an obvious love of the Kimberley region.
I wanted to capture an image that depicted the quiet,
unassuming, gentle woman that she was – I hope this
does just that.

been a fairly liberating and freeing experience in the artworld.
I enjoy doing abstracts often and I can never really imagine ahead what the finished painting will resemble. I usually have to stop myself at some stage to avoid overdoing it.

viewer.

Viki Murray– Lightning Ridge (Outback Arts)
About the artist:
Viki Murray is an established photographer who lives in Lightning Ridge with her husband John.
Originally hailing from the coast, through extensive travel, her love of photographing brought her
to Lightning Ridge in 1989, when a very persuasive individual won her heart and she found herself
living in an eccentric mining town 800 kms from the beach.
This individual was the gifted artist John Murray, who encouraged her love of photography and
soon she was printing black and white images in her own darkroom. For some years she explored
the weird, eclectic world of the Lightning Ridge opal fields through the lens, capturing the off beat
architecture and characters that make it so unique. The interest in her black and white shots of locals saw her expand into commissioned portrait work, all done with an emphasis on natural lighting with a very casual rustic approach.
Viki is now enjoying having time to pursue her photography work again. Viki has a permanent display of images in the gallery and is currently working on new publishing projects.

gained a Diploma of Photography (Digital Photography). This ignited my passion for photography . I enjoy all areas of photography and particularly love the fact that photography brings me in
contact with people across all walks of life.

poetry, pottery and photography. I am of the Dhulii, sand goanna people and my spirit is
‗Giniybarra- the tree‘. My Legacy is to continue sand painting - to mentor sand artists. Through
art, I can take my place in the universe, uncluttered by the demands of life, both mental and

and the spirits that have walked before me. I can almost feel the inland sea and I can taste it in

―I (get inspiration) from my grandparents and (the memories) of listening to them talk around
the campfire and then I‘d put those stories into pictures…the art is drawn the way you would
see them (the stories in pictures) drawn on the ground and from that (each different angle) you
would see a different part of the story. The way I paint is the way you would see them drawn
around the campfire.‖
Frank has been painting professionally for 13 years.
About the artists—Photography & Sculpture
Alison Dent– Gulargambone (Outback Arts)
About the artist:
Alison lives with her husband John outside Gulargambone. Creating new works from old materials is what Alison excels at. Her favourite material, steel, has thrust her into the spotlight with
her works appearing in both local shows and further afield.
Recently Alison joined the Outback Arts community as a board member and says her interest in
outback art, as the concept, has driven her to join the board to help promote regional talent in
her area.
