BIG BIRDS LOST FOREVER
The Haast’s eagle (Te Hokioi) and the Giant moa are two extinct species that once roamed around New Zealand. They were both huge
birds. Haast’s eagle, the largest eagle in the world, had a wing span of up to 3 metres. Female Giant moa, larger than the males, were over
two metres tall and weighed over 250 kilograms.
