JOG-A-THON CLASS SCHEDuLE, OCT. 16T
October 1, 2015
I N T H I S I S SU E: Curriculum Night Tonight, 6-7:30 PM / Student Info & PTA Forms Due Oct. 2nd / PTA General Meeting: Oct. 8th
ON YO UR MA RK , G ET SET, JOG- A- THON!
The 2015 Jog-a-Thon is on October 16th! The Jog-a-Thon packets went
out in KidMail last week. If you did not receive one, there are extras in the
Main Office. The packet has everything you need to start collecting pledges
to help us reach our fundraising goal. This year, the Jog-a-Thon is more
important than ever as we will not be holding an auction. Be certain to look
at the information about creating your own FirstGiving page. It is easy to set
up and makes raising funds easy, even from afar.
Speaking of goals ... be certain to check out the Jog-a-Thon bulletin board
outside of the cafeteria. Students and staff members can submit their fitness and nutrition goals
and we will post them to inspire others. Goal sheets also went home last week and your students
can send them back to school via KidMail. There will be extra sheets available in the Main Office
and hanging on the bulletin board. Please contact [email protected] to be a business
sponsor, to volunteer or with any questions.

Lost & Found
Every year, dozens of
coats, hats, mittens, shoes,
lunchboxes and various toys
and treasures are found
around the school without
an owner. There is a space
outside the lunchroom that is
dedicated to lost and found
items. Please check this
area whenever you are in the
building. Unclaimed items are
donated to charity several
times a year, beginning after
Thanksgiving.
S av e Mov ie Night & Planet Greenwood!
Breaking News 2015-2016: No Movie Night this year … No Planet Greenwood potluck dinner
and festival … No Night of Giving at the Foodbank ... Unless …
For the past five years, the moms and dads of CONNECT have offered “Free, Fun, Family
Friday” events. Every year Movie Night filled our auditorium and gym to capacity with students
and families, and Planet Greenwood allowed the whole school to share our families’ culinary
backgrounds and explore different themes through games, shows and our kids’ artwork. To put
these events together and give to our school community takes a team of committed parents. Last
year we were a team of 12 or so (plus spouses when needed!), yet this year we are down to 4
(our parents’ kids graduated to middle school). We are eager to keep CONNECT going and to
continue these fantastic Greenwood traditions, but are unable to do so at our current numbers.
We need more parents involved!
October 8th at 6 PM is Greenwood’s first PTA General Meeting. Here you will meet our dynamic
PTA team as well as have the chance to learn about different committees you may be interested in
joining. Please consider joining us at CONNECT, where we strive to create free school events that
can be attended and enjoyed by all our families. CONNECT is a great way to meet other parents,
have fun and be directly involved with your child’s experience here at Greenwood.

O ct. 2 nd Due Date fo r Info/PTA M embe rship F o r ms
Still haven’t completed your family’s Info/PTA Membership Form? There’s still time! We’ve
extended the deadline to Friday, October 2nd. Make sure your family is not left out — we use this
information to create the all-school and classroom directories, facilitate communication (including
WeeBee distribution) and share volunteer opportunities.
Forms went home in the first-day-of-school packet. You can either:
1) fill out the form and return via KidMail, or
2) enter your information online at http://goo.gl/forms/0HplfuKyz3 — the quickest, easiest way!
When you’re filling out your form, don’t forget to sign up for the PTA! Whether using the
paper or online version, please submit membership fee donations to the office or via KidMail
(some people have encountered problems with the online PayPal link). Questions? Contact
[email protected].
