Works required to link Theodore St and Barcham St commenced in October. Before construction of the new connection road can begin, significant decontamination and remediation of this land needs to take place. Contractors commenced these remediation works and these are anticipated to continue until end of February next year. Once these are completed, the construction of the new road is anticipated to commence from mid-2016. Demolition of the dilapidated wharves will commence from February next year. Initially two stretches of works at the eastern and the western end will begin in February next year with removal of existing wharf infrastructure and these materials will either be re-used in future public art in the precinct or recycled. These works will begin the process of opening up the river to the public and to allow for the proposed two kilometre river walk in the future. During this time there will be no disruption to Eat Street Markets or cruise ship operations. A significant package of works on Remora Rd, Macarthur Ave and Hercules St will commence from March 2016. These works will include road widening to four lanes, future signalling, and new on-street parking. The works along Remora Rd will improve the appearance of the entrance to Northshore Hamilton and, importantly, allows for the provision of dedicated public transport along this road. Residents and businesses will be advised in advance of commencement and of any disruption to traffic during this period. Local residents, and visitors to the Northshore Harbour Café and Northshore Riverside Park, will find that EDQ has opened up a new 300 space car park at the eastern end of Northshore Hamilton near the Northshore Northshore Hamilton City Cat Terminal. Visit the news page on our website for infrastructure updates and information www.northshorehamilton.com.au/?name=News Retro pop-up drive in and outdoor cinema experience From 6 November, Eat Street Markets are introducing a pop-up drive-in and outdoor cinema to Northshore Hamilton every Friday and Saturday night. Located at a different location along Macarthur Ave, just down the road from Eat Street Markets, the riverside drive-in will screen current popular releases and the occasional classic Hollywood blockbuster. Enjoy the latest movies from the comfort of your own vehicle. Local residents who stroll down, or those who catch the CityCat, can walk in and take advantage of the cozy “moon chairs” and enjoy movies under the stars. Just like the old days – imagine segways instead of roller skates – you can order your snacks and (non-alcoholic) beverages by placing the special service flag on the roof of your car to get the attention of the roving segway crews. If you are in a moon chair you don’t have to leave your seat as the segway service will be like having your own private candy bar. If you feel like a beer or a wine before or during the movie you can also visit the American Diner for ice cold beverages. Tickets must be purchased online in advance from the link on the Eat Street Markets website www.eatstreetmarkets.com or www.movies.eatstreetmarkets.com.au and the entire experience is cashless, so remember to bring your credit or debit cards for service on the night. Your drive-in tickets also includes complimentary entry to Eat Street Markets so you can pop in before or after the movie for a delicious dinner of pick up some takeway. Gates open at 5.30pm and movies start at 7.30pm. Dogs are welcome. BYO not allowed. Dining out at Northshore There are now more than 30 cafes, venues and bars at Northshore offering a variety of dining options, plus a few new comers which are taking the precinct by storm, you are spoilt for choice. Portside Wharf has welcomed health inspired café, Pineapple Express which serves up a nutritious menu of raw, gluten and dairy-free delights. It is also the only other venue in Brisbane to serve up Cocowhip. Also new to Portside Wharf, Treecycle Coffee Shop has created its own single-origin house blend coffee. While the coffee beans are imported from Colombia, much of the delicious menu (did we mention all-day breakfast) is locally sourced produce. NOLA Portside offers a unique version of hearty New Orleans, Louisiana fare with a mix of Creole, Cajun, Spanish, French, African and Native American. The Louisiana-style live music on Friday nights is awesome too. Workshop 14 at Hamilton Walk is a funky, industrial looking craft beer, cocktail and wine bar, where every Wednesday night is Neighbourhood Night with half price pizzas and happy hour. Grab a house blend from Treecycle Coffee Shop You can find more details about these and other venues at Northshore on our website www.northshorehamilton.com.au or our Facebook page.
