CCD NEWS: The calendar is set and will appear on the
Church website under the education tab. Previously
registered families will also receive one in the registration
packet that will be mailed out late next week. New families
may pick up a packet from the Rectory after August 3.
Cathechists and aides are needed. Please contact Mrs.
McConnell 361-741-8730, if you would like to be considered
for a position. We are in need of another Catechist & aide in
2nd grade. We would like to have 2 smaller classes, instead
of one large one. We are also in need of Catechists in 1st,
4th, 6th, 8th & 9th grade, as well as some aides. Please
prayerfully consider teaching as a ministry.
From the Desk of Msgr. John
We had a wonderful Married Couples’ Retreat this
past weekend at Disciple Oaks Retreat Center outside
of Gonzales. Six couples helped give the retreat and
fourteen couples attended. I thank Chelsea and
Clayton Wimberly for their leadership in this endeavor.
We look forward to having another one next summer.
Sacred Heart School started this past Monday and
other schools will be starting soon. Let us keep our
teachers and our students in our prayers for a
successful and joyful new school year.
There will be a special blessing for the beginning of
the new school year on Wednesday, September 7, at
7:00 p.m. at the Hallettsville Football Stadium. We will
also have the blessing of the new artificial turf.
This is being sponsored by the Hallettsville
Ministerial Alliance and everyone is invited. All
students, school administrators, teachers, school
employees from the public and parochial and private
schools and family, friends in the area.
All pastors in the community have been invited.
Father Max Landman, our newest member of the
Ministerial Alliance, will give a talk. Please try to
attend this special blessing of our young people
The Knights of Columbus will be honoring our law
enforcement men and women on Sunday,
September 11 at the 10:30 Mass followed by a dinner
for them and their families at the K.C. Hall. This is a
good time for us to show our support and appreciation
of those who wear the badge and protect us.
Attention All
Parishioners: Yes,
it’s that time again. The summer is almost
over. Fall 2016 Picnic Donations, such as
cattle, antiques, unique or interesting items to
donate to the Auction, are needed for the Fall
Picnic held on September 4, 2016. Please call
the Rectory. Cash Donations may be dropped
off at the Rectory or placed in an envelope
and dropped off in the collection basket.
