Mississippi Blood Services recently made a visit to
Senatobia High School, on
September 18. The service
is a non-profit organization
committed to providing a
safe and adequate supply of
voluntarily donated blood
and blood components for
patients in hospitals and
to offer related services to
hospitals and other medical
facilities. Throughout the
day, students and teachers
filled the blood buses, both
eager and nervous about donating blood. Mrs. Deborah
Wages, the school nurse,
was very pleased with the
outcome of this semester’s

On September 10, 2012, the
SHS Theatre Department had
the honor of being inducted
into the International Thespian Society (ITS) as Troupe
7817. ITS is the world’s largest organization that honors
high school theatre students.
Many celebrities have been a
part of this prestigious organization, including Madonna, John Goodman, and Tom
Hanks. As a member of ITS,
the SHS Theatre Department
now has many opportunities
to recognize the students’
hard work, such as scholarship opportunities. “The theatre department took a step
forward joining the ITS,” says
David Durham, director of the
theatre department. “We welcome the challenges that come

ship with each other and enjoy refreshments. Jonathan
Miles was happy with the
SHS Performing Arts Students at a previous performance
this summer. Jasmine joined
over 200 other young leaders
from high schools across the
state for the three-day conference. HOBY leadership seminars
bring together a select group of
high school sophomores from
public, private and parochial
schools to interact with groups
of distinguished leaders in business, government, education and
the professions to discuss present and future issues. The goal
is to provide the youths a stimulating forum for learning about
critical issues while broadening their understanding of their
leadership potential and quest
for self-development.
HOBY
leaders are also challenged to return to their community to perform at least 100 hours of community service within 12 months
following the seminar. Jasmine

MissTate County
Erica Danielle Austein, SHS senior, was recently crowned Miss
Tate County at the pageant held
during the Tate County Fair. She
is the daughter of Kim and Phillip Austein. This comes as no
surprise to the Warrior Nation;
she was selected Most Beautiful
for 2012 at the SHS Beauty Review last January. Erica is a very
active young woman. She was
percussion section leader for the
Warrior Band; she is a member of
Interact Service Club, Beta Club
and is president of the Performing
Arts Alliance. Erica is the founding president of the International
Thespian Society Troupe. She
has been nominated for Best Actress, Best Director and has won
the Director’s Choice award by
The North Mississippi Theater Alliance. In her spare time she enjoys scuba diving. Senatobia High
School is very proud to have Miss
Tate County as a distinguished
member of the student body.

Most important moment or accomplishment: I have so
many special moments and wonderful accomplishments I have
been able to fulfill throughout my life. The most important would
be my children. I am so blessed to have them and I love being a
mom. Other major accomplishments include being able to work
with the students and teach them confidence as well as academics.
I enjoy teaching and observing the students for an entire year as
they prepare for the Biology SATP test as well as mature.
