Family Fun at the NCCC! - Florenceville
2015
The promise of Spring’s arrival is enough to see anyone through a bitter winter! - Jen Selinsky
Shiktehawk Walking/Hiking Trail
Spanning 2.2 km along the Shiktehawk Stream, this walking/hiking
trail exudes peacefulness and tranquility. This year round trail is the
perfect location for an afternoon snowshoe hike...easy for beginners,
but challenging enough for the intermediate hiker.
Snowshoeing
Snowshoeing is the fastest growing winter sport in the world
(snowboarding is growing fast too, but not fast enough), snowshoeing
is poised to become a monster of a market. The sport is easy to learn,
virtually inexpensive (compared to other winter sports), poses little risk
of injury and is a great way to exert energy during the cold winter months. One of the more appealing facts about
snowshoeing is how it can help enrich a person’s health. Known to help maintain or improve cardiovascular fitness, the
sport helps burn more than 600 calories per hour. Snowshoers can burn more than 45 percent more calories than
walking or running at the same speed. So, whether you’re looking for an easy stroll through the woods or a challenge
with hills, New Brunswick has hundreds of trails and parks that are perfect for snowshoeing.
**Our Recreation Department has several Youth and Adult Snowshoes available for public use. Contact 392-6763
ext. 211 or email [email protected] to learn more.
Snowmobiling
Go snowmobiling...Journey hundreds of kilometers of groomed trails with plenty of places to pause and enjoy the great
outdoors. Enjoy winter at its best!
Visit New Brunswick Federation Snowmobile Club www.nbfsc.com for last minute trail conditions and events.
