for a unique night out. You’ll sample a
fantastic array of dishes – appetizers,
desserts, wines and more – all exquisitely prepared by the region’s most
talented chefs.”

The Mahwah Regional Chamber of
Commerce’s 23rd Annual Golf Outing held at member venue the Ramsey
Golf and Country Club on Monday,
September 22, 2014 was a resounding
success on every level. The weather
was sunny and dry, and golfers tested
their skills on the 18-hole course with
the chances to win great prizes. Several would-be golfers learned the sport
for the first time, and an army of volunteers made sure the day went
smoothly. The cocktail hour was held
at The Abbey and its course-side patio,
followed by a dinner in the Grand
Ballroom. Over 200 attendees came to
celebrate Thomas M. Eastwick, the

Message
Hello!
I have always loved this time of year! This
colorful seasonal change means that several great Chamber events are right
around the corner.
On November 3, we will host our popular
and very well attended “Taste of the Region & Business Showcase” at the Crowne
Plaza Hotel in Suffern, NY. This is always a
fun event and provides participants an opportunity to network as well as sample delicious food & wine from local restaurants.
On December 12, the Chamber hosts it’s
“Annual Holiday Luncheon” at the Crowne
Plaza. This is one of the Chamber’s
biggest and best events. We will, as we do
every year, honor our 2014 Citizen, Organization and Company of the Year.
Please accept my invitation to join us. We
offer over 40 events every year. There is
something for everyone and every schedule. Visit www.mrcc.biz for information
about the Chamber and all of our great
upcoming events.
I’ll see you out there!

• Suzanne Ordas Curry of Write Ideas PR has
announced that she is the new President of CASA
for Children of Bergen County, a
non-profit that advocates for
children in foster care. She is
also now the publicist and an associate producer for the new
comedy series called Weight,
starring Emmy-Winner Martha
Byrne, coming to multiple platforms in 2015.

• Hospitality executives Frank O’Dea and Greg
Dodge engaged Superior Technology Solutions
of Pearl River, NY, to create a labor scheduling
application, Schedule
Cloud, by One Touch.
The cloud-based software was rolled out in
September of 2013 and
is now actively used by hospitality giants Restaurant Associates, Wolfgang Puck, and Universal
Studios in several markets including New York,
Los Angeles, Boston and Washington DC. The
software pricing is very competitive and is based
on the number of users. Schedule-Cloud can be
used on the enterprise level or for smaller caterers
and special event companies. Superior Technology is already working on new enhancements for
the mobile version of the application.
• The fourth season of Rockland Boulders
baseball was a historic one for the franchise both
on the field and in the stands. During the 2014
campaign, Rockland welcomed their 500,000th
fan to Provident Bank Park as more than 175,000
folks piled into the stadium for various events.
The Boulders led the league in overall attendance
(159,739) and average attendance (3,182 per
game) for the third straight season.
On the field, Rockland earned a franchise best
56 wins during the regular season, finishing with
a record of 56-40 and capturing their first ever
league pennant. The momentum only increased
into September as the Boulders rolled to their first
Can-Am League postseason title, defeating the
New Jersey Jackals in the Championship Series in
six games. One individual also set new league
records in 2014 as first baseman Jerod Edmondson became the all-time hits leader in Can-Am
League history while setting a new career mark
for runs scored.
As a squad, Rockland led the league in nine
different offensive categories while seeing three
players earn All-League honors. Edmondson,
along with outfielders Ryan Stovall and Antone
DeJesus were named Can-Am League All-Stars
while DeJesus was named the league’s Defensive
Player of the Year. Manager Jamie Keefe was also
named the Can-Am Manager of the Year, the second time he has earned that honor in his career.
The success continued away from Provident
Bank Park as three different Boulders had their
contracts purchased by Major League organizations in 2014. Infielder Steve Nyisztor was signed
by the Arizona Diamondbacks and assigned to
Single-A Hillsboro where he helped the Hops win
the Northwest League Championship. Pitcher
Sean Bierman was bought by the Atlanta Braves
and assigned to High-A Lynchburg while fellow
hurler Joe Donino was signed by Arizona in late
September.
• The Sheraton Mahwah Hotel has recently
made significant upgrades to their Guest Rooms.
New Sheraton Sweet Sleeper Beds are now in
place in all 225 guest rooms to provide an even
more comfortable night’s rest to visitors. In-room
Safes have been installed in all 225 guest rooms as
well, and all rooms have had a second cordless
phone added. For your dining pleasure, new
menus have been created for the Atrium Lounge
and the Fountainview Restaurant, and there are
wonderful new
selections
available for inroom dining.

year, and, with the support of the MRCC Board
of Directors and growing membership, the
Outing was sold out by the end of August. The
excitement surrounding this annual event continues to grow and this year was further fueled
by the extensive network of Tom Eastwick.
A special thanks to all of the sponsors who,
through their generosity, helped MRCC raise a
record amount of revenues on the topline:
Inserra Supermarkets, Inc., SHARP Electronics
Corporation, The Palisades Medical Center,
PNC Bank, the seven Founder Level sponsors,
and our media sponsor Bergen Health & Life.
This event is the largest fundraiser for the
Chamber and a minimum of 25% of the net
proceeds are donated to a charity of the Honoree’s choosing. Mr. Thomas M. Eastwick
chose The Eastwick Foundation as the charity
to receive the charitable contribution from this

to give back. $1275 was handed out, $2856
was collected, and Tom Eastwick will match
the $2,856. As a result, local food charities
will receive donations totaling $5,712 at

ypn – young professionals network
xxxxxxxx
Our Young Professionals Network (YPN) was formed with one goal
in mind: to create real value for young professionals by providing a
supportive, fun, and comfortable environment where young professionals can build up their personal networks and enhance their
networking abilities.
We welcome professionals under the age of 40 to come and meet their
peers, develop their skills, and gain access to community leaders at
our bimonthly events hosted by Regional venues.
Please join us and share your stories, exchange ideas… and most importantly, have fun!

Neil Frank is the owner of Creative
Solutions that provides promotional
products and printing for all types of
companies and sizes. He offers solutions
and new ideas for his prospects and
clients. Neil also is an active member
and serves on many MRCC committees.
“I became a member because I wanted to
expand my network and so far it has
been fantastic. In the past two years, I’ve
met great people and have built solid relationships. What benefits my business the most is being involved in working on
Chamber committees and getting to know the other members.
Another important reason is that I have gained new business
and friendships as a member of MRCC. I also enjoy being part
of a Chamber that interacts with its members and the various
communities it serves.”
