Together We Move campaign Promoting Inclusion in Estonia Indrek Petersoo Development & PR Manager, Levadia Tallinn Join the discussion using #totalaccess TOGETHER WE MOVE THE STADIUM ACCESSIBILITY PROJECT FOCUSED ON PEOPLE WITH ASSISTANCE DOGS LAUNCHED IN TALLINN, ESTONIA THE GOAL OF THE CAMPAIGN IS TO ENCOURAGE THEM TO COME TO THE FOOTBALL MATCHES AND OTHER EVENTS TOGETHER WITH THEIR ASSISTANCE DOGS BY PROVIDING AN EASY ACCESS TO THE STADIUM AND OTHER PUBLIC PLACES THE ACCESSIBILITY FOR ALL IS THE KEY! ESTONIAN ASSISTANCE DOGS CENTRE (Abikoerte Keskus) in a nutshell FOUNDED IN 2011 MAINLY FOCUSED ON RISING AND TRAINING THE ASSISTANCE DOGS FOR PEOPLE WITH DIFFERENT DISABILITIES ALSO FOCUSED ON EDUCATING THE ASSISTANCE DOG USERS AND VOLUNTEERS, INCREASING THE AWERENESS OF THE COMMUNITY ABOUT THE NEEDS OF PEOPLE WITH ASSISTANCE DOGS EASY ACCESS = HUMAN RIGHT! IN ESTONIA, ACCORDING TO THE LAW, THE PEOPLE WITH ASSISTANCE DOGS SHOULD ALWAYS HAVE AN ACCESS TO ALL EVENTS. THE SIMILAR LAWS ARE APPLICABLE IN MOST EU COUNTRIES. AROUND EUROPE, AN EASY ACCESS WITH ASSISTANCE DOG TO PUBLIC PLACES, INCLUDING FOOTBALL VENUES, REMAINS A SERIOUS PROBLEM. VERY OFTEN THE ORGANIZERS OF SPORTING AND OTHER EVENTS ARE SIMPLY NOT AWARE ABOUT THE EASY ACCESS REQUIREMENT AS THE PETS ARE NORMALLY NOT ALLOWED TO THE EVENTS. WHAT DID WE WANT TO CHANGE? TO ENCOURAGE PEOPLE WITH ASSISTANCE DOGS TO COME TO MATCHES BY PROVIDING THEM AN EASY ACCESS TO THE FOOTBALL GROUND TO INCREASE THE AWARENESS OF THE COMMUNITY ABOUT THE NEEDS OF PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES TO INCLUDE PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES INTO THE CLUB AND COMMUNITY ACTIVITIES TO ENCOURAGE ALL FOOTBALL CLUBS TO THINK MORE ABOUT THE NEEDS OF PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES THIS IS HOW THE CAMPAIGN TOGETHER WE MOVE! WAS BORN FC Levadia has launched a campaign named KOOS ME LIIGUME (TOGETHER WE MOVE) in 2015 together with the Estonian Assistance Dogs Centre (Abikoerte Keskus) and BC Kalev/Cramo basketball club. ASSISTANCE DOGS´ DAY AS THE HIGHLIGHT OF CAMPAIGN, THE ASSISTANCE DOGS´ DAY (ABIKOERTE PÄEV) HAS BEEN ORGANIZED ON MAY 9, 2015 AT KADRIORG STADIUM IN TALLINN THE EVENT TOOK PLACE PRIOR TO THE HOME MATCH OF FC LEVADIA IN THE ESTONIAN PREMIER LEAGUE. ASSISTANCE DOGS DAY 2015 May 9 @ Kadriorg Stadium in Tallinn • The Assistance Dogs´ Day consisted of the introduction of assistance dogs to the public and the other part aimed for children with disabilities. • For people who participated, we offered different activities such as different simulations - walking with eyes closed with a trained guide dog, wheelchair obstacle course, measuring the level of blood sugar, making crafts and opening candys full of jars with boxing gloves. Children were happy to play with puppies. ASSISTANCE DOGS DAY 2015 Assistance dog demonstrations ASSISTANCE DOGS DAY 2015 During the event we talked about the accessibility rights and obligations, what people have if using assistance dogs and what rights and obligations the owners of public places have. The second part, where youngsters with disabilities escorted the players of FC Levadia and FC Flora into the footbal field, like youngsters usually do, was a great opportunity for them. Their parents where proud of their children and the children where very happy and felt like a part of the team, normal and brave. The players of both teams also said that being escorted to the field by children with disabilities and seeing them enjoying the game deeply touched their hearts. FC LEVADIA – FC FLORA Player escort & playing football! A STRONG MESSAGE WAS SENT TO COMMUNITY Everybody wants to come to the football game! LESSONS LEARNED NO PROBLEM IF YOU DO NOT KNOW ABOUT THINGS – BUT WHEN YOU LEARN, TAKE AN ACTION! PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES DO NOT EXPECT ANY SPECIAL TREATMENT, JUST CARE AND AN EASY ACCESS! PASSION AND WILL TO DO A GOOD THING ARE THE KEYS TO SUCCESS! INVOLVING CHILDREN IS IMPORTANT! SMALL COMMUNITY EVENTS CAN BE MORE POWERFUL THAN SUPER INNOVATIVE CAMPAIGNS WITH HYPER-BIG BUDGETS! EUROPEAN CLUB ASSOCIATION (ECA) BEST ACHIEVEMENT AWARD 2015 WINNERS! THANK YOU! AITÄH!
