I
t was only fitting to finish our 2014
year with a record setting Awards
Banquet. The January 24th event
was held again at the Dorsett Sybergs
and had 104 guests in attendance. This
was our second banquet held at this location and we will be back again next
year.
After conducting a little business,
a fine buffet was served. We always do
well when planning meals.
We were then treated to the
“Year in Review” by Syl Biermann that
highlighted our club events in 2014. This
was accompanied by a photo display of
those events that Dan Kelly made possible.
The old and new boards of directors were introduced and thanked for
their work along with so many who
worked so hard during the year.
At the awards presentation,
eleven of our members took home the
fruits of their year, concluding with Burt
Pennington winning the Neal Ketchum
Memorial Award for finishing in first
place in our points race.
The evening finished with distributing the attendance prizes to all who
were present, the car club quilt drawing,
the grand attendance prize and the 5050 drawing.
As usual, our master of ceremonies, Syl Biermann did his masterful job
of guiding us though the evening.
What a great way to start our
new year.
Our night started with fried chicken, roast beef and all
the fixin’s.
Our large crowd filled the room. Even extra tables had
to be set up.
Our night would not be
complete without a Fords
Unlimited cake.
Our MC,
Syl Biermann
always
makes us
look so
good.

he normal cutoff for newsletter contributions or classified
ads is the date of our membership meeting. This gives us
enough time to publish, print and
distribute our mailed newsletters.
We favor smaller submitted articles
during the car show season due to
lack of room.
We send our updates for our website before the end of each month. Normally, we can
add classified ads up to that point.
We do ask members to check out their
classified ads for corrections so we don’t continue
running the incorrect ads. Please let us know if
you have sold your items so we can delete it from
our page.

weather could be a
problem at our board of
directors and membership
meetings. If you are unsure
if a board meeting will be held, contact any
board member. For membership meetings, we
will contact the Sports Café and let them know
that a meeting has been cancelled. Their phone
number is 314-298-1631. If at all possible, we
will hold a meeting as scheduled as it is difficult
to reschedule.
his month we welcome
three new members. Steve
and Ginger Schneider have
joined our club. The Schneiders
reside in Manchester and
are owners of a 1966
Mustang coupe (near and
dear to your editors heart)
and a ‘96 Mustang Cobra
convertible, They were
sponsored by Ken Farrar.
Our second new member is Dennis
McBee. Dennis and spouse Deborah also live in
Manchester and are proud owners of a 1970
Boss 302 and a 2009 Mustang GT/CS. Dennis
was sponsored by Burt Pennington.
Burt has been busy as he also sponsored
Jim Van Nest of Wildwood, Missouri. Jim also
owns a Mustang but of the newer variety as he
drives a 2007 Foose Stallion Mustang.
New members are the lifeblood of any organization we are proud to have these new members. In older days, we only got new members
during the summer months. Over the past few
years, we seem to get new members all year
long.

ur late winter tour this year will be a trip
to the new Gateway Classic Cars facility in O’Fallon, Illinois on February
28th. This will be our first trip to the O’Fallon
location and it is a definite upgrade from their
previous building. This will be a great way to
spend a cold February day. Gateway is one of
our long time sponsors and will appreciate our
support. We will meet at Visitation Academy
which is located at 3020 Ballas Road at Highway 40/64 at 8:30 am and will be leaving at
8:45 sharp. We will tour their facility until
around 11 am and then we will head across
the street to Ravanelli's for lunch. This will be a
club event for points.
ur treasurer, Paula Goodrich has another
pony in her stable. She recently purchased
a 2002 low mileage Mustang Mach I. She’s
going to need more drivers for her collection.
Thanks to Syl Biermann, the date has been
set for our 2016 Awards Banquet. It will be held on
January 19th at the Dorsett Sybergs.
Our Toys for Tots amount increased as we
learned that the Sinclair Lincoln Dealership in St.
Peters had a large box of toys that they had collected for us. Our total toy donation jumped to over
$4,200.
We are in the process
of setting up our early spring
tour. If available, we will be
touring the Anheuser Busch
Brewery with a lunch to follow. We are planning a March
21st date. We will have details at our February membership meeting and in the March newsletter.

W
e were in Kansas City late last year and
went to the WW 1 museum. It didn't
look like much from the outside because it was all underground except the tower
and some statues however on the inside it was
incredible. I would never have imagined such an
extensive collection of memorabilia. They had
planes, tanks, pistols, rifles, uniforms and just
about any and everything from
that war. There were two model
T's that were in the war, found
and restored to immaculate
condition that I thought were
interesting. We had a 2 hour
tour and then spent another 2
hours looking at things. It is
really quite a museum, well
worth the visit, Ticket prices
were $12 and we got another
$2 off for military service, it
was the best $10 I have spent
in a long time. And the ticket
was good for 2 days if you
want to go back which you
would have to do to really
look and read everything.

hey were pure fantasy on wheels, machines designed to make the heart race
and the mind ask… what if?
These 1950s concept cars were automotive art built to attract public attention, test wild
engineering ideas and give motorists a fleeting
glimpse down the highway of tomorrow. You
have to remember, this was the 50’s and America was impressed with jet aircraft and it shows
in many of the concept cars of the era.
Thank God that the 1958 Ford X-2000
didn’t make it into production. Beauty is in the
eye of the beholder but some things are just butt
ugly. The 1955 Lincoln Futura was modified to
become the George Barris Batmobile. The 1953
Ford X-100 may be the truest future car as from
the doors to the back, it does resemble the 1964
-66 Thunderbirds and without the bubble top, the
1954 La Tosca resembles the 1958-60 Lincolns.
