Castree, L. McNamara, H. Latchford, B. Coles, W. Hugo COACH’S REPORT: The best way to describe the week ends game against Unley is FUN!! In the grand final rematch from last year the two teams are now miles apart and this was evident from the outset. A lot of people in football talk about systems and structures and how personal, greatly affects the way you have to play the game. The ability of our group to understand theirs and each other’s roles, and have the flexibility to play multiple positions within these systems is very rewarding to see and coach. The win over Unley now secures top spot on the ladder and the Minor Premiership!! A great reward and a huge achievement that we all should be pleased with, after all the hard work that everyone has put in, from the players, the coaches, committee and all the supporters well done and thankyou but be assured we still have a long way and a lot of hard work to go to get to where we want to be!!! Bring on PNU Brett Backwell THANK YOU TO OUR SPONSORS: THIS WEEK’S FIXTURES - SATURDAY 20TH AUGUST, 2016 Division 1 Round 17 – A Grade v Payneham NU [2:15PM @ Payneham Oval] Division 1 Reserves Round 17 – B Grade v Payneham NU [12:15PM @ Payneham Oval] Division 7 Semi Final 2 – C Grade v Salisbury West [2:15PM @ Salisbury Downs Oval] Division C3 Elimination Final – D Grade v Golden Grove [12:30PM @ Harpers Field] Division 7 Semi Final 2 – E Grade v St Pauls OS [12:15PM @ Edwin Smith Reserve] F Grade’s season is over because they didn’t make the finals (finished 7th) ROUND 16 PAOC B GRADE (DIVISION 1 RESERVES) - ROUND 16 UNLEY MERCEDES JETS Q1 3.4 – 22 4.2 - 26 Q2 7.7 - 49 4.3 - 27 Q3 12.11 - 83 5.5 - 35 Q4 17.12 – 114 6.5 - 41 GOAL KICKERS: C. Ellis COACH’S REPORT: After an energetic start against opposition side that hadn't won for a while, we allowed a few late goals and had some structure and attitude tweaking to address at the first break. Fortunately, we showed Unley more respect after this and began to control the ball better and have greater disposal efficiency. We were able hit the scoreboard well in the second half with targets like Hannemann (6 goals) and Prest (3 goals) up forward. Our mids controlled the ball well in the second half and across half back we tended to put a stop to Unley's forward movement and consequently their goals dried up. A good win in all that puts us at the top of the ladder. The challenge within the group continues to consistently play competitive footy consistently to the standards we expect as finals approach. Butenko COACH’S REPORT: We got off to a bit of a shaky start in our qualifying final against St Pauls. 20 minutes into the match St Pauls had established a solid lead of 4 goals but we managed to kick a couple of goals late in the quarter to narrow the gap to only 10 points at the first change. The second term was a real arm wrestle as a final should be, with neither team able to establish complete control 2 goals each for the quarter. However there were signs that the larger St Pauls forwards were starting to feel the strain of chasing our defenders and we started to set up a very solid structure. In the second half we controlled the ball with short kicks and plenty of movement which meant the match was played mostly in our forward zone, so from being behind at half time by 6 points we finished up by 12 at the final siren. A very good result but we can still improve our delivery into our forwards. We at looking forward to taking on the undefeated Salisbury West to win a spot into the Grand Final ROUND 18 PAOC OLD IGNATIANS GOAL KICKERS: nil. In a very strong competition against some quality C grade sides we have made the finals and this week we have an elimination final against Golden Grove. If the lads bring their best and play our game we can have an impact and get through to the next week and build some momentum.
