Story By KOKI MITANI * This performance has English subtitles. This is a completely modern-day Bunraku (traditional Japanese puppet theatre), produced by one of most popular Japanese writer-directors, Koki Mitani who is also the best comedy writer. The story is based on Sonezaki Shinju, which is different in its details but can be called a Japanese version of Romeo and Juliet. This is the historic collaboration, remaining major essence of traditional Bunraku and now-a-day brilliant tragic comedy. So, why not join the performance, let out some laughter and maybe some tears this August at the KYOTO Theater!
