First picture below...Willie G, Nancy and Bill Davidson...what a great picture! 8 April 2015, Rebel Rider Magazine 9 WHITE, KYLE J. Rank: Sergeant Organization: U.S. Army Company: Company C, 2d Battalion (Airborne)Division: 503d Infantry, 173d Airborne Brigade Born: March 27, 1987 Departed: No Entered Service At: Seattle, Washington Date of Issue: 05/13/2014Accredited To: Washington Place / Date: November 9, 2007, Aranas, Afghanistan Citation Medal Of Honor Specialist Kyle J. White distinguished himself by acts of gallantry and intrepidity at the risk of his life above and beyond the call of duty while serving as a radio telephone operator with Company C, 2d Battalion (Airborne), 503d Infantry Regiment, 173d Airborne Brigade, during combat operations against an armed enemy in Nuristan Province, Afghanistan on November 9, 2007. On that day, Specialist White and his comrades were returning to Bella Outpost from a shura with Aranas Village elders. As the soldiers traversed a narrow path surrounded by mountainous, rocky terrain, they were ambushed by enemy forces from elevated positions. Pinned against a steep mountain face, Specialist White and his fellow soldiers were completely exposed to enemy fire. Specialist White returned fire and was briefly knocked unconscious when a rocket-propelled grenade impacted near him. When he regained consciousness, another round impacted near him, embedding small pieces of shrapnel in his face. Shaking off his wounds, Specialist White noticed one of his comrades lying wounded nearby. Without hesitation, Specialist White exposed himself to enemy fire in order to reach the soldier and provide medical aid. After applying a tourniquet, Specialist White moved to an injured Marine, similarly providing aid and comfort until the Marine succumbed to his wounds. Specialist White then returned to the soldier and discovered that he had been wounded again. Applying his own belt as an additional tourniquet, Specialist White was able to stem the flow of blood and save the soldier's life. Noticing that his and the other soldier's radios were inoperative, Specialist White exposed himself to enemy fire yet again in order to secure a radio from a deceased comrade. He then provided information and updates to friendly forces, allowing precision airstrikes to stifle the enemy's attack and ultimately permitting medical evacuation aircraft to rescue him, his fellow soldiers, Marines and Afghan Army soldiers. Specialist Kyle J. White's extraordinary heroism and selflessness above and beyond the call of duty are in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself, Company C, 2d Battalion (Airborne), 503d Infantry Regiment, 173d Airborne Brigade and the United States Army. 10 11 Leesburg Bikefest Hot Spots Just a few streets over from all the downtown action on Hwy 441 is the Shamrock Lounge * Package. See page 49. Owners Peter and Katie cater to bikers in Lake County the year round. They show support to Rebel Rider Magazine by doing free food for our events such as our Anniversary Party which will be on June 20th, as well as the Annual Hang-Over Ride. During Leesburg Bikefest they will have entertainment inside out, as well as out-side bars. This place is a must visit...one of Rebel Rider Magazines favorite HangOuts. Pictures Below. In addition Irene’s has reopened for Bike Fest...now talk about some hot looking bartenders, this place has them...see ad on page 42. 12 April 2015, Rebel Rider Magazine 13 Welcome To Leesburg Bikefest Lake County Florida...the best riding in the state of Florida. If you have arrived for Leesburg Bikefest I know many of you will be looking for those back roads or hidden secrets...Lake County has always been known for its famous Sugar Loaf Mountain road located just outside of Astatula on Hwy 561. There are a few others we will share with you...one is Thrill Hill off Hwy 44 in Eustis and the other is Emeralda Island Marsh Road off 44 which is close to Gator Bay Bar * Grill see page 24, just ask and they will head you in the right direction. If you are riding this road for the first time take it easy...it has plenty of pin hair turns. Rebel Rider Magazine’s Kick Off Party begins on Thursday night April 23rd at Hurricane Dockside Grill...see ad page 57. Pictures from past years event in the next column, the food is tremendous, great prices on beverages, event sponsored by Miller Beer, Twisted Tea and Brent Miller P.A. There are plenty of give-always taking place so arrive early….this article is continued on page 15. 14 The bottom left hand side of this page is Chelle’s Softail Saloon...named after the owner who rides a softail...Chelle never wears a pair of shoes while working...so you know this place is clean. Located on the four corners in Eustis this is a real hot spot and great ride out of town. See Page 21. If you’re downtown Leesburg make sure and visit Franks Place...you might just save a few bucks while hanging out under the pavilion drinking a few cool ones. They have a large selection of beer’s as well as full liquor bar. This is also the Your going to be looking for more places to go than just down town Leesburg while your visiting. I think everyone loves what the downtown partnership has done for bike fest but after awhile you just want to check out some other hot spots...if so see the gal above. Her name is Amber, she works for Jesse Blacks… this place is loaded with HOT GIRLS working all day long. See ad on page 25. Twisted Tea Girls Hang Out. Headed out of town there are a whole lot of hot spots. On Saturday Rebel Rider Magazine will be out at the World Famous Hideaway in Tavares, this place is the number one biker hang out for Leesburg Bikefest outside of downtown Leesburg . Even on the weekends when there is nothing going on the Hideaway draws hundreds of bikers from all over Florida. The food is first class, drink prices and liquor prices are also not hard on a person’s budget. They have added on a lot more parking and seating area this year so make sure to head that way and check it out. Wet T-shirt contest on Saturday. See Page 17. 15 Another Lake County Hot Spot is Buzzard Beach, see ad on pages 30-31. Full liquor Bar, Great Beer Prices and HOT GIRLS all day long. No Hamburger in Florida beats the Hamburger made at Buzzard Beach...it is simply as juicy as they come. Picture Below. Welcome to Leesburg Bikefest Continued. Below Pictures The Hideaway Wet T Contest and the hot bar girls 16 17 Welcome To Leesburg Bikefest Continued Many of you will make the ride over to Mount Dora, if your staying at the Lakeside Inn there is a couple places where your going to have a great time and find good food, service, ice cold beer as well as full liquor bars. The Lost Parrot is a hot spot, downstairs you can grab a place to eat and watch the people walk by, or in the evenings head up stairs to the night club. See ad on page 39. If your into sports bars with hot gals I recommend Sidelines...see ad on page 20. They just might make the best pizza * hot wings around. Below Picture Sidelines, great outdoor Seating. More different beers to order then you can check out in a week. See ad this page. Their menu is about 100% pure Irish food. Family owned for decades they have been around to see hundreds of changes take place in Lake County. You will love the outside seating where you can watch float planes land on the lake. 18 Leesburg Bikefest Continued If you love old fashion, kick back, relax and watch the gators swim by Palm Gardens is your place to visit. Some find this place hard to find but it really is not...it is directly across the hwy from Hurricane Dockside, watch your speed to the restaurant which is no doubt about as 100% old Florida as they get...you will simply love the place. Ad on this page bottom right. 19 Eaton Beach and Gator Joe’s If you’re here for Leesburg Bikefest and want a get-a-way that would be a good ride with little traffic try heading out to Eaton Beach or Gator Joe’s. Locations are not far from one another, both are located right off Hwy 25 north of Wiersdale. See ad for Eaton Beach on Page 2. Gator Joe’s ad is on page 14. Both locations are on Lake Wier which happens to be one of the cleanest lakes in Florida. White sand beach’s at both locations. Eaton Beach is two story...top deck is more fine dinning, lower deck is the best hang out. Plenty of bike parking at both locations. 20 April 2015, Rebel Rider Magazine 21 Hello my wind in the face bugs in our teeth family On an extremely rainy Sat Feb 28th, Franks place in Ocoee hosted a fundraiser for Aubrey Clark who very sadly lost her young life when hit by a car on the way home from school in Ocoee. This celebration of life was to help raise money to cover her hospital expenses. A large number of items were donated for the silent auction. This raised a good amount of money for the family. A 50/50 drawing was held with the winner donating back to the family the entire amount of $585.00 BBQ ribs and chicken plates were offered with the cash raised from that also going to the family. Pam and Phil's bike night also helped keep everyone entertained with excellent music choices. All around it was very crowded and considering the weather I feel a great success for an important cause. Donations can still be given at www.osceolafdbenevolent.org. Hope I saw as many of you as possible at Bike week. Keep the wheels down and your head high. Krobar 22 Desiree from St. Cloud working Bike Week at Froggy’s Saloon. Mike and I showed up early, must say the place was very slow. 23 24 April 2015, Rebel Rider Magazine 25 Leesburg Bikefest Continued If you’re the kind of biker who is visiting Leesburg Bikefest to get in some great riding you might want to put a couple of these locations on your stop. First would be Pirates Pub in Paisley. Great back road riding see ad page 35. But before you head that way you have to make sure in stop at the Oasis Saloon in Sorrento...this is a major biker hang-out year round. The never miss a beat in this place. See ad page 22. Another Location is Knuckle Heads see page 33. 26 April 2015, Rebel Rider Magazine 27 Out And About With Cowboy Cactus Jacks 23rd Annual Chili Cook Off and Fund Raiser. A fun filled day in Salt Springs offered not only Great Chili, Great Music and Lots of Fun but raised $3,600.00 for the Fort McCoy Elementary School. An annual event that owner Lynn’s father “The Catcus Jack” started 23 years ago to help Fort McCoy teachers make sure all students had school supplies. Bikers came from all over to enjoyed cold beer and chance to judge the “People’s Choice” award for best chili. Salt Springs Village entry took first in official judging and also People’s Choice Award. Mean Green Chile and X Iceman Chili followed their spicy entries. The best decorated booth went to Cubano Chili. Mark your calendars now for the 2nd Saturday of March 2016. Cowboy Dean 28 29 30 usually post a whole bunch more pictures there - at least the ones the Facebook Police will let me get away with….. That’s all I’ve got for now. I -Brad [email protected] Riding SOB on Facebook 407-432-5845 31 32 April, 2015 Rebel Rider Magazine 33 34 35 April 2015, Rebel Rider Magazine 36 Out And About With Hark AND Maximus In March Maximus and I had a great month. He got introduced to a lot of people “And Dogs” at the doggy park in Mount Dora...wish I had my camera with me at the park. I think the most important thing a person can do with a new puppy is get the out around people and other dogs as soon as you can. A great man once said...Children are like a piece of clay...take them and mold them into what you want them to be...if you have not accomplished this by the time they are seven “You Loose” I think the same goes for dogs...only you must get it done within the first six months of birth. The rest is pictures...Nam Knights Green Swamp Chapter Open House...Hark 37 A night at the Iron Horse Saloon Everyone who rides knows of and where the Iron Horse Saloon is located. If you have not been there then you are really missing out, One thing about the Iron Horse is it has a little secret that probably is not so secret. First weekend of Bike Week is always good for attendance just because it is the first weekend of bike week. Yet Monday and Tuesday it is a good place to be. Mostly locals and what I will call your hard core bike week lovers. Those that come from all around to camp and delve into the full experience of the week. Small fun crowds. Lots of happiness and fantastic bands. I really enjoyed the music and sometimes comedy of Mustang Sally. I really look forward to seeing them every time I can. I know everyone had a great time and I am looking forward to Biketoberfest. Keep your tank full stay hydrated and ride ride ride. The Krobar April 2015, Rebel Rider Magazine 38 Leesburg Bikefest Continued On page 32 you will see an ad for The Crazy Gator in Eustis. What you don’t want to miss out on is the 10% discount coupon in the ad. This location is sweet, plenty of biker parking on both sides of the business as well as in front. Great wings, burgers as well as what you might call the home cooked meal if you starving. Full liquor bar and the beer is always ice cold. 39 40 April , 2015 Rebel Rider Magazine 41 Bobby’s Ride On March 15th 15 motorcycles and even more riders met at All About That Beer in Ocala to take one more ride with 79 year old Bobby Turner who has been battling cancer for a few years now. We all met at the bar and rode to Bobby’s house where he and his family were waiting. After hugs and handshakes we all mounted up and rode to Ghost Riders Saloon for a few brews with Bobby, the following Monday he is supposed to be admitted to the local Hospice, we wish him all the best on his journey to a better life. Slick Rick and Generous Jack put this special run together in less than 24 hours, great job guys, you guys rock. Special thanks to all the guys and gals that dropped everything to help make this happen. Ocala bikers are the best. More on 43. Rebel Rider Duke April 2015, Rebel Rider Magazine 42 43 44 April 2015, Rebel Rider Magazine 45 SAM SWOPE MEMORIAL CHARITY RIDE March 8th marked the 7th year for the Annual Sam Swope Charity Ride. This is always one of the biggest rides of the year and through the years well over a million dollars has been raised for the Shriners Hospital for Children in Tampa. With the sad passing of Sam this past year, the ride was renamed the Sam Swope Memorial Charity Ride in his honor. It sure seemed that Sam was smiling down on the ride this year. There was a great crowd at Seminole H-D. There was lunch, a couple of bars set up, and more raffle and auction items than you could possibly count! I’m not usually a fan of tribute bands, but I’ll have to admit, the Kiss and Blues Brothers tribute bands were a lot of fun. They both sounded pretty good and really got the crowd going. If you were here looking to snatch up a bargain, the live auction wasn’t for you - this event was all about raising money for the kids and a lot of stuff went for well above actual value. Things got under way at the Bahia Shrine Temple, just off Maitland Blvd. in Orlando, with a big pancake breakfast. With beautiful weather, and several hundred bikes lined up outside, it was kick stands up at 11:00. The Florida Highway Patrol, Seminole County Sheriffs and several local city motorcycle units led us on a wonderful 50 plus mile ride through the scenic back roads of Seminole County - destination Seminole Harley-Davidson. Last I heard, the total raised for the Shriners Hospital for Children was well over $300k and still climbing! As always, the Shriners, Seminole H-D, and everyone else involved did an absolutely awesome job! Great event! More Pics Page47. -Brad 46 47 Tropical Tattoo chopper show Great day for a ride! More so when that ride is taking you to see all types of vintage to new choppers. Lots of crowds with riders from all walks of life come together in the awesome Fla sun on Thursday of bike week to see these great bikes. Love to admire and rub shoulders with the creators then do not miss the show again, Biketoberfest will be the next chance!. More Pictures Page 50. Ride safe ride far The Krobar 48 49 More Pictures from Tropical Willies Bike Show, taken by Krobar. Special thanks to Twisted Tea for all the work they do with bikers all over the USA…Way to go Bill Grotto. You sure know how to pick out the pretty gals. See you in Leesburg. 50 51 52 BIKE WEEK 2015 Another Bike Week has come and gone. By most accounts, attendance was down again this year. I don’t know - I had a great time! Beautiful weather. Great times with good friends. I even think a lot of businesses stepped it up this year with entertainment. Most nights it was hard to decide which band to go see. I love Bike Week. Haven’t missed one in almost 20 years. Sure, like the old bikers we are all becoming, I do believe the glory days of Bike Week have passed us by. And “the biggest bike rally in the world”? I really don’t think that’s been true for a long time. But I’m not going to turn this into another rant about all of the problems with Bike Week, Daytona Beach and the surrounding cities. Bike Week is whatever you want it to be and if you’re looking for a great time you’re sure to find it! Bike Week has been a blast for the last 20 years, and I hope I live to enjoy the next 20! More Pics Page 54. Brad 53 Bike Week Pictures By Brad 54 55 St. Patty’s Day at the Tilted Kilt What great weather we’ve had for St. Patty’s Day here in Ocala, couldn’t have been any better. There was music all day on the Saturday before St. Patty’s Day, lots of good eats and cold drinks. This is always a big deal for the Kilt and as usual it turns out to be an awesome event. Nefty wants to remind everyone to come on out to the first bike night of this year featuring Bobby Friss and his awesome band, if you’ve never seen them in action you’re in for a treat. These guys are awesome entertainers. Bike nights are always the first Saturday of the month from April thru November. Don’t forget April 4th with Bobby Friss, It’s gonna be goooooooood.
