Don Coleman’s public service efforts span more than 30 years. His service as an EMT-Paramedic has impacted
countless lives of trauma victims and their families. His commitment to EMS education and training has helped increase
the performance expectations and standards required of the state’s emergency responders. During 20 years of service as
a SWAT team Paramedic and Reserve Police Officer, Don compiled over 4,250 volunteer hours and participated in over
100 SWAT missions while protecting and providing medical care for officers and citizens of the region. He began his
employment with Northeast State Community College in 1985 and currently serves as Assistant Vice President of
Academic Affairs and Associate Professor of Emergency Medical Technology. Don earned his EMT-Paramedic
certification from Northeast State in 1987 and is a graduate of East Tennessee State University with bachelor’s
and master’s degrees.
