Community Development Director
City of Desert Hot Springs
Mr. Meyerhoff and Community Cultural Affairs Commission,
The design and build team of Douglas Kay and Debra Ann Munun respectfully submit preliminary
sketches for the construction of entry monuments for the City of Desert Hot Springs. The proposed
design is to be constructed out of natural rock, recycled glass, concrete and fabricated metal
incorporating imagery to depict the natural hot springs and windmills in an astheically pleasing manner,
including a bold welcoming font "Desert Hot Springs" with solar lighting for night visibility.
Included are rough sketches depicting the basic concepts. We would like the opportunity to hold a
workshop with the Community Cultural Affairs Commission to refine the design and materials in order
to create working drawings and a color rendering to be presented to the City Council for final approval.
The project schedule and final budget would be determined upon completion and approval of design.
The team will guarantee the budget shall not exceed the maximum allowance of $10,000.
Sketches and qualifications to follow.
Thank you for your consideration.

Biography
Coachella Valley native, artist, activist, educator, curator, consultant and believer Debra Ann
Mumm has spent her lifetime dedicated to the arts in one form or another. A trained materials
specialist with extensive experience in acrylic systems, Debra's work continues to explore
relationships between surface and paint on non-traditional supports. Vessels and mixedmedia assemblage installations focus on unifying themes that touch on inner versus outer
worlds, our global humanity and universal spirituality.
A lifetime doodler, english literature major, theatre minor, Debra became interested in the
more universal articulation of color and design. Art eliminates the barriers of language, it
provides a global dialogue that is a motivating factor for her support of public murals. She is a
believer that art positively changes lives and communities.
