the charles allis: 100 years continues
The first day of spring is March 21st! But, this is Wisconsin - let’s face it, we rarely get spring here. There always seems to be a major snowstorm in March and April flowers don’t show up until May! Commit yourself to getting out and discovering something new in Milwaukee during the rest of this bleak indoor season. Of course, I hope you’ll start by checking out our new exhibit at the Charles Allis. Opening night was a big success, with well over 100 people attending the opening. If you didn’t make it to the opening, don’t fret, this special exhibit will be up most of the year. To keep you returning we have an evening of Spanish music, dance, food and wine. Or maybe you would prefer attending our talk in March with Frank Alioto – Brady Street’s resident historian. And everyone’s favorite, John Gurda joins us in April to give us some history on the Allis’ and manufacturing in Milwaukee during the turn of the century. Special “meet the speaker” cocktail hours will be held prior to the talks so you get a chance to schmooze with our guest speakers. We especially want to thank the Friends of Charles Allis (FOCA) for sponsoring our 100th Anniversary Celebration. Their financial support allows us to celebrate in style! We continue to expand our programming and want you to be involved in the process. In early April we plan on having a survey linked to our web sites to create programming that our members and the public want to see. Watch for an email blast announcing the survey soon. Sadly, after two and half years, our Marketing Manager, Erica Passey has taken a new position. Our marketing efforts have increased dramatically because of Erica’s insight and dedication to her job. We wish her well. And I wish for all of you a quick end to winter as we look forward to spring! @ the villa terrace Karen Gunderman and Linda Wervey Vitamvas through May 15, 211.
