History of
Mayer Farm Equipment
The Mayer Farm Equipment LLC that we are known as today has a rich and
long history in the farm machinery business. It was started by our father, Al
Mayer, back in 1948 as a used equipment dealer while he was still in high
school. In the late 1950’s and early 1960’s he started as a new dealer carrying
Allis Chalmers, New Holland and New Idea along with his used business.
During this time our family lived behind the dealership and as a result grew
up at the business. Dad sold the new part of his business to a good customer
in the mid-60’s. He then moved his family to Fayette County to farm and
continued in the used machinery business. His used business then began to
grow. By the 1970’s he was back into the used equipment business full time.
Al had 4 sons who all showed an interest in the business. Larry, along with his
3 brothers, began helping while still in high school. Dad retired around 1984
and Larry and his brother John and a brother-in-law, Kenny, continued the
used business and started as a new Deutz Allis dealer in 1985. In 2003, Larry
decided relocate to an 11 acre location ½ mile north of where we were at.
Also in 2003 Larry’s son, Chris started full time and Dale followed in 2005.
Larry and Dale are part of the sales staff and Chris is our service manager.
We have continued in the new and used machinery and parts business. We
currently have over 20 employees to staff our full line of sales, service, parts
and delivery for our customers.
Thru the years we have added lines and with AGCO’s acquisitions we are
able to offer a wide variety of parts and service to our customers.
