INFO 2013 STOCKHOLMS STADION 22 AUGUSTI Stockholm Olympic Stadium 22 aug 2013 2013 Stockholm Olympic Stadium 22 Aug 2013 It’s time for the show! Welcome to Stockholm and the 47th edition of DN Galan! It’s a great honour to have so many Moscow medalists here and we hope to keep up the championship atmosphere with exciting re-matches at the famous Stockholm Olympic Stadium built for the 1912 Summer Olympic Games. We have a new official hotel this year – Radisson Blu Waterfront – in the heart of Stockholm which is a new and modern hotel with generous rooms and a light and fresh interior. I am convinced that you’ll really enjoy this new environment! DN Galan Athletics Week is, of course, more than just DN Galan. Lilla DN Galan is the athletic highlight for children. The world’s best athletes will be in Kungsträdgården to help children try out a variety of track and field events. DN Galan Youth is also held in the Olympic Stadium and takes place the weekend after DN Galan – this is an athletics gala for ages 12–19 which follows the same format as DN Galan with presentations, start lists and results on the video screen, music and much more. DN Galan Seminar makes a comeback this year with a presentation and discussion on Nutrition, Exercise and Motivation with famous Swedish sports stars Kajsa Bergqvist (world champion in high jump) and Magdalena Forsberg (6 times world champion in biathlon). An athletics week like this requires more than just a classic centuryold stadium and I would therefore like to thank Dagens Nyheter, Com Hem, Postkodlotteriet, City of Stockholm, IMG and our other sponsors for their support. Following the tradition of the past 20 years we will, of course, award diamonds to anyone who sets a stadium record. We’ve awarded 68 diamonds since 1994. Who’s next? Once again welcome to DN Galan and good luck in your competition!
