WELCOME
YOU are a welcome guest on the Pepperdine campus
for the 1958 Vacation Lectureship. In other words, we're
very glad that many of you arranged your vacations
to be at Pepperdine for the first of what we think will
be a great many of this new kind of lectureship.
You will find the campus a friendly place. Any of
the "regulars" here—faculty and students—will gladly
answer your questions. Although summer school classes
will be in session during the lectureship, you are welcome to visit any department of the College.
If this is your first time in Southern California, you
are going to find it difficult to believe the delightful
climate is real. But it is, and when the cool breeze begins
to come in off the ocean about mid-afternoon, you'll find
a light jacket or sweater quite comfortable.
Of course, while you're iri the Los Angeles area, you
must visit a few of the famous places of interest. There
will be information when you register for the Lectureship on Disneyland, Marineland, Catalina Island, and
Griffith Observatory, among others.
Elsewhere in this program, you'll find information
on housing and dining arrangements.
Again may I express our pleasure that you are with
us for this rich spiritual fare which, I'm sure, will make
this vacation long-remembered for you.

REGISTRATION
It is important that you register when you first
arrive. You may get your room then, any questions you
have will be answered, and, in the event of an emergency call for you, you can be easily located. The
registration desk is located in front of the Dining Hall.
HOUSING
During the Lectureship men and boys will stay in
the Boys' Dormitory, while women, girls and small children will be assigned to the Girls' Dormitory. If, for
some reason, you were not able to bring your own, the
College has arranged for you to rent towels, sheets and
blankets to make your visit comfortable.
The $10 fee you paid at Registration will take care
of your entire family's housing during the Lectureship.
This is true even with the separate arrangements given
above. If you arrive early, the dormitories will be open
Sunday afternoon, August 10, at 2 p.m. so that you may
get settled before the program begins Monday morning.
MEALS
You will find the College Dining Hall a reasonable
and pleasant place to eat during your stay on the campus. Serving hours and prices are:
Breakfast 7:00-8:30 a.m. $ .70
Lunch
11:30-1:30 p.m. .90
Dinner
5:30-6:30 p.m. 1.25
Although no children's portions are served, you may
buy anything on the menu a la carte for your family.
The Cafeteria does not serve a Sunday evening meal;
those of you who arrive Sunday afternoon may wish to
sample the excellent food of some of our neighborhood
restaurants.
CLASSROOMS
Since respective class attendance will determine location, classroom assignments will be made the first night
of classes, Monday.
VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL CLASSES
FOR CHILDREN
Many of you who brought your children will be
pleased to learn a Vacation Bible School for all ages
will be held for the Lectureship period. This will make
your vacation spiritually profitable for them, too. Classes
and room assignments will be posted at the Registration
SPECIAL EVENTS
As a highlight of the 1958 Vacation Lectureship, a
Fellowship Dinner for all will be held at 5 p.m., Tuesday, in the College Dining Hall. Melvin Weldon, minister of the 35th and McDonald congregation in Richmond, and formerly of Barstow, will be the speaker.
