New Technology at
Citizens State Bank
of Loyal
Technology has been one of the
biggest driving forces in the financial
industry since the first bank was
formed. In Citizens State Bank’s 105
years in business we’ve seen many
advancements. From calculators to
tubes at the drive up, and online
banking to most recently an iPhone
app; CSB has always striven to offer
you the services and technology to
make it easy for your money to work
harder.
Recently we updated our Bank
core processing system to offer you
more services, including a better
online banking experience and
interaction with CSB. This includes a
streamlined enrollment process
providing you with quicker, secure
access to your accounts. With our
enhanced Internet Banking, Bill Pay,
Mobile Banking, Voice Banking
(formerly known as Dial-A-Bank) and
eStatements, you will have access to
your accounts like never before.
For those of you who have been
customers of CSB, we truly appreciate
you taking this journey with us. We
hope the destination exceeds your
expectations from our old system to
our new one.
If you have never tried our online
services, now would be a great time to
experience the security and
convenience of these services. They
are an easy way to monitor your
finances and protect yourself from
fraudulent activity on your accounts.
Along with security, you’ll also be
playing a part in saving some natural
resources. By switching to electronic
bills, statements and payments, every
year the average household would:
• Save 6.6 pounds of paper
• Avoid releasing 63 gallons of
wastewater into the environment
• Avoid using 4.5 gallons of gasoline
to mail bills, statements and
payments

Protect Your Financial Data:
Monitor Your Credit Report!
Do you know your current credit
score? When was the last time you
checked your credit report? Your credit
score affects many aspects of your life,
including interest rates on large
purchases, obtaining loans, renting an
apartment and even applying for a job!
Here are a few important facts to keep
in mind when monitoring your credit
score.
Check Frequently - For Free! First
and foremost, make sure you check
your credit report three times per year
(one for each of the three major credit
reporting agencies: Experian,
TransUnion and Equifax). You can do
so for free by visiting
www.annualcreditreport.com. This is
especially important to do a few
months prior to major purchases like a
house or vehicle.
Watch for Unauthorized
Transactions. Second, use this check
of your credit report to protect your
identity. Unauthorized accounts, loans
or purchases will damage your credit
and let you know someone has stolen
your identity. This is also important
because your credit report has
information on current and previous
addresses, your social security
number, and the number of times you
have applied for credit. All of this
information is valuable to identity
thieves and needs to be checked
regularly.
So what do you do if your credit
report is inaccurate? You can dispute
errors on anything from inaccurate late
payments to accounts that aren’t
yours. You can also dispute falsely
reported bankruptcy, or a bankruptcy
that has stayed on your report for
longer than the ten-year limit. You can
make the dispute online, by mail or
over the phone. To dispute via the
Internet or phone, you must have
ordered a copy of your credit report
within the past month and you will
need to provide the credit report
number. Once you have the necessary
information assembled, contact the
credit bureau associated with the
inaccurate report (Experian,
TransUnion or Equifax).
In Between Reports. Since you can
only check your full credit report every
few months, monitoring your accounts
on a daily basis is a key component to
keeping your financial data secure.
Utilize free tools like online banking,
mobile alerts, and electronic bank
statements to track your accounts.
Watch for unauthorized or strange
purchases or charges, even small ones.
Sometimes, when financial information
is stolen, the criminal may make a
small purchase to see if the
information is accurate. If the small
transaction goes through with no
problems, the thief goes on a shopping
spree - with your money!
If you notice unauthorized activity
on any of your financial accounts, your
first step should be to contact your
bank using the phone number on your
statement or on the back of your
credit/debit card. They will help guide
you through the process of cutting off
the compromised account and
switching to a secure one.

CSB Key Club invites you
Netherlands,
Belgium & Paris Trip
featuring Normandy & Historic
Bruges & Volendam
September 7‐19, 2015
There are so many highlights on
this journey to the Netherlands,
Belgium and Paris that it is difficult, if
not impossible to describe them all in
one place-so let’s look at one
experience you’ll have that is sure to
be at the top 5 of your list of favorites.
After your relaxing dinner and cruise
on the Seine River through Paris, the
next morning you will board the coach
for an unforgettable day at Normandy.
You will have a guided tour of two of
the most famous beaches on the
Normandy Coast, Omaha and Gold
Beaches. We have arranged to have
very personal dedications at both
beaches on behalf of our group.
Experience the color and glory of
this leisurely-paced tour through the
Netherlands, Belgium and Paris. Start
your horticulture experience with a
visit to the Hortus Botanicus, a secret
garden located in the heart of bustling
Amsterdam. Float in the canals of
Amsterdam. Enjoy a tour of a family
owned brewery, with a free taste to be
sure. Allow yourself to journey back
into medieval times with a
leisurely-paced guided walking tour in
one of Europe’s most perfectly
preserved medieval cities. Enjoy a day
in the village of Volendam where you
feel like you have stepped into “Old
Holland” and maybe see fisherman
dressed in baggy-legged trousers. Visit
the city of Brussels, Walk the
boulevards of Paris, city of lights. Visit
the home of Claude Monet, and
perhaps have a coffee in a cozy bistro
watching the world go by
Parisian-style-it’s Paris your way! All
this and so much more.
Maintaining an emergency fund is
a key component to reaching
financial stability. Most consumers
understand how important having
this "rainy day fund" is, but it can be
difficult to figure out how to start
one. Another common question is
how much you need to save. Here
are three steps to help you get your
emergency fund started or rejuvenate
it if you've already started one.
Identify your savings goals. The
first step in any savings plan is to
determine how much you want to
save and how quickly you want to
set that money aside. Generally,
experts advise keeping between
three and six months worth of your
living expenses set aside in your
emergency fund. Once you've
calculated that amount, (be sure to
include scheduled payments like
rent/mortgage, student loans, etc.)
determine a reasonable timeframe
for achieving your goal. For
example, if you want to save $9,000,
a target of three months would mean
putting $3,000 into the fund every
month. For most households, that is
not realistic. A better timeframe goal
would be eight or nine months.
Start small. Whether your goal is
to set aside $1,000 or $10,000, it all
starts with that first extra dollar
saved. If you're just starting your
emergency fund, even finding $25
extra each month to put away can
increase your confidence. Gradually
increasing the amount you save will
keep you from getting discouraged.
Setting up an automatic transfer with
your bank can help with this. You
can start by transferring $25 each
month from your checking account
to your savings account. Then, start
adding any windfalls or budget
surpluses. That way, each month
you're saving at least your
minimum; anything in addition to
that is a bonus to yourself.
Finding the extra cash. This is
the most difficult part for most
people. Sometimes, finding the
money to deposit into your
emergency fund account each month
will be a struggle. If you can't
tighten up the monthly budget any
more, consider adding profits from
garage sales. Another strategy is to
start taking a bagged lunch to work
and/or school. Put the money that
you would have spent on lunch
directly into your emergency fund so
you're not tempted to spend it
elsewhere. Another quick way to
save is on your morning coffee. Even
if it's only $4.00 each day on your
way to work, that's $85 that could
be sitting in your emergency fund at
the end of the month if you brewed
at home instead.
Taking these three steps will help
you start and grow your family's
emergency fund, giving you peace of
mind that you can weather
unexpected financial storms. For
more advice about setting up an
emergency fund, talk to your local
banker about specific accounts that
fit your needs.
