Pathway Program is composed of elements
that enable you to successfully complete
your UMass Dartmouth undergraduate
degree in the U.S.
The University Pathway Program (UPP)
Stage II comprises disciplined for- credit
and other courses that, completed with
the specified grade point average, will be
credited towards degree requirements in
your UMass Dartmouth degree program.

be undertaking a program that is monitored
by UMass Dartmouth ensuring the highest
academic quality.
University Campus
Navitas at UMass Dartmouth is located at
the University of Massachusetts (UMass) in
Dartmouth, Massachusetts, with satellite
facilities in the Southcoast Massachusetts
region. Just one hour from Boston, the
700 acre campus is located between
Providence, Rhode Island and Cape Cod,
less than one hour by car from the famed
sailing city of Newport, Rhode Island and
Nantucket, Massachusetts and close to
numerous beaches. Water sports abound.
As a UMass Dartmouth student undertaking
a Navitas program, you will have access
to state-of-the-art university facilities and
services, including libraries, computer
laboratories, recreation facilities,

for some students. In addition to formal
academic courses, Navitas at UMass
Dartmouth provides a variety of study and
learning support services to assist students
to develop the study skills necessary to
successfully complete their program of
study, including:
Orientation
A comprehensive orientation program
is offered to all new Navitas at UMass
Dartmouth students containing valuable
information to help you settle into
your study program as quickly and
comfortably as possible. The orientation
sessions include: linking new students
with mentors; meeting all relevant
Navitas staff; selecting your subjects
and creating a timetable; getting your
ID; purchasing textbooks; touring the
campus, library and all student facilities.
Language Skills Support
Being able to communicate effectively and
confidently in English is the key to your
success at UMass Dartmouth. Navitas
offers comprehensive English language
support classes to improve your skills
in English grammar, critical reading and
academic writing, listening effectively
to lectures, participating in tutorials and
discussions and note-taking.
Integrated Learning Skills course
In the first semester of study with Navitas
at UMass Dartmouth students are provided
complimentary support modules which
develop their study skills in areas such
as time management, academic writing
skills and examination techniques.
Peer Support Education programs
Mentors are students just like you who have
gone on to succeed in their field of study at
UMass Dartmouth. In addition to being an
integral part of your orientation program,
these mentors also run study support
classes in specific subject areas throughout
the semester in a more relaxed and informal
environment, which allows students to
feel more comfortable asking questions.
Academic consultations
Our academic team and other teaching
staff are available throughout the semester
for individual or group appointments if
students need help with assignment drafts,
researching assignments, essay structuring,
assignment writing and referencing in
assignments.
Counselling and guidance
Adjusting to any new environment can be
a stressful experience for some students.
As well as academic support, Navitas
provides excellent personal and welfare
support through a range of services to
ensure that you are able to reach your
goals. Free and confidential welfare and
counseling services are available to all
Navitas at UMass Dartmouth students.
These advisors are available to meet
with you to discuss any problems or
concerns that you may have about your
academic, social and personal life.

The Navitas at UMass Dartmouth University Pathway Program is composed of academic and support elements that enable you to
successfully complete your UMass Dartmouth undergraduate degree in the U.S.
UPP Stage II is comprised of credit and non-credit courses that, when completed with a specific grade point average will be credited
towards degree requirements in your UMass Dartmouth degree program.

Mixed Entry
The minimum academic levels required
for entry to the UPP Stage II offered
by Navitas at UMass Dartmouth are
outlined at www.umd.navitas.com.
Not all qualifications or countries
are listed and students with other
qualifications should send details for
assessment to our Admissions office.
Students whose English test scores meet
the requirements for the Mixed Program
may begin their UPP Stage II program with
the addition of 1 Academic English course
taken in the first semester of study.
Direct Entry
Students whose English test scores meet
the requirements for direct entry may begin
their UPP Stage II program.
English Language preparation
If you do not meet the minimum English
language requirement for direct entry,
you can enroll in an English language
preparation course to improve your
English language proficiency.
Upon successful completion of the
appropriate English language course at
Navitas, students are eligible to progress
to their academic studies with Navitas
