Welcome and Thank You
Dear Friends and Families of St. Brendan,
Once again we are here, supporting and celebrating our school at our 12th annual Dinner and Auction! I am honored to welcome you all to GATSBY…
First, I would like to take the opportunity to acknowledge the role our principal Ms. Lang has had in
the development of our school. Her leaving marks the end of an era here at St. Brendan’s. I know
we will all come to appreciate her even more when we try to fill the void that she will leave. In her
25 years here, she has been a mentor, leader and supporter to all our children. Many of us have
additional personal reasons for our gratitude, and we extend special thanks for her caring and dedication. Thank you for all you have done and all you have taught the children. We send our very
best wishes for a happy retirement!
The St. Brendan’s family is also truly blessed with a dedicated faculty and staff, parents, grandparents, alumni, parishioners, and community members. Each of these people have donated their
time, talents and resources – all for the benefit of our school and parish. I want to thank this incredible group for your continued support of our school.
Our Auction Committee consists of 21 committed individuals, all of whom have volunteered countless devoted hours toward the success of this evening. My extreme heartfelt gratitude goes out to
each and every one of you! Your support, leadership and patience is what has made this a truly
wonderful experience and ultimately successful event for St. Brendan’s. I would also like to extend
my thanks to your families, along with my own, for their support and patience during the past year
of preparation. In addition, I would like to profusely thank all the families, and friends of our parish
and school community who contributed to this event. Whether by volunteering your time, working
here this weekend or making a donation of cash or auction items, without you, this event would
not exist.
My thanks also goes to our sponsors, local businesses and organizations, for the contributions to
this event. Their donations of goods or services extending to our auction items and production of
the evening, is also what makes our event incredibly successful. Please thank them by patronizing
and supporting their businesses whenever possible.
Finally, my thanks to you, our guests, for your excitement, your participation and your financial
support of St. Brendan School.
“Our lives are defined by opportunities, even the ones we miss” – F. Scott Fitzgerald, GATSBY.
DON’T miss your opportunity – bid now, bid high, and bid often!

and only 50 will be sold! If fewer than 50 are sold,
then the winning amount will be a 50/50 based on the
number of tickets sold. Those purchasing a code will
have the opportunity to open the box during the live
auction. For your convenience, a bidder sheet will be
available at the Code to Cash table. Simply write your
bidder number on the sheet and your pre-swiped card
will be charged the $100.
As you enjoy your evening here is some information to help you through each event.
GENERAL
All sales are final.
No exchanges or refunds unless otherwise
announced.
RAFFLES AND RAFFLE BASKETS
Raffles for 1) Curved with Class products will be on
sale for $10 each 2) $3,500 toward tuition at the
school of your choice will be on sale for $20 each.
Increase your odds of winning by buying more than
one ticket. These separate raffles will remain open
until midway through the live auction at which time
winners will be announced.
Items are sold “as is.” All warranties, expressed or
implied, are disclaimed. In no event shall liability
exceed the amount of the purchase price. Generally the donors, not the auction committee, set values. When the winning bidder has been determined, that person waives any claims for liability
against either the donor of the property or services, or St. Brendan School and Parish. Neither the
School and Parish, nor the donor is responsible for
any personal injuries or damages to property that
may result from the utilization of the property or
services sold. All auction items and services are to
be used by the time specified, if any. Please note
any restrictions in the catalog or on the displays.
Bidding indicates that the bidder has read and
understands these conditions.
In a separate raffle, tickets for all nine awesome, overflowing classroom raffle baskets, valued at over $300
each, will be available until the live auction at which
time winners will be drawn. Tickets are $5 each.
For your convenience, a bidder sheet will be available
at all raffle tables. Simply write your bidder number on
the sheet and your pre-swiped card will be charged
the raffle amount. You do not need to be present to
win.
Payment for all purchases MUST be made the night
of the auction at the redemption table. Cash,
check, Visa, MasterCard, Discover or American
Express are welcomed. Once payment is made, the
School and Parish are no longer responsible for the
item. If you will be paying by credit card, you can
pre-swipe at the Redemption table in Classroom
3B. This will allow you to gather the items you win
at the end of the night, without having to stand in
line to pay. Please claim and remove ALL items
purchased the night of the Auction.
COUNT ME IN
This year’s Count Me In Experience will be features at
several kiosks throughout the auction. Each party at
the table has a limited number of spaces available at a
fixed price. All party spaces will be sold on a firstcome, first-served basis. The Count Me In table will be
open during Preview Night and will be open on auction night from 5:00 – until sold out.
SILENT AUCTION
There are six silent auction tables in the cafeteria,
each with a bid board for your viewing and bidding
pleasure. When you want to bid on an item, complete
a bid card and give it to the table attendant who will
post your bid.
BUY YOUR CODE TO CASH
50 keys will be sold, each with a three-digit code
on it. One of the codes will open the box that contains 50, $50 bills (that’s $2,500). Tickets are $100
10
Opening bids on silent auction items must be greater
than or equal to the posted minimum bid for that item.
Each succeeding bid must raise the highest bid by a
minimum of $5. The countdown clock will be started
ten minutes prior to the close of the table. A flashing
light on a table will indicate that it is in the final ten
minutes of closing and the running clock will indicate
the time remaining. For the last 2 minute, bids will be
placed into a bid basket at $5 increments and will be
sorted and posted when the time is up. No bids will
be accepted after the countdown ends. The highest bid
when the auction is declared closed is the winning
bidder.
REDEMPTION
Check-out will begin after the close of all of the silent
auction tables. Cash, check, Visa, MasterCard, Discover
and American Express are welcomed. During dinner,
auction items will be sorted by winning bidder and live
items will be added at the conclusion of the live auction. If you pre-swiped your credit card, you only need
to show your receipt at the auction pick-up tables in
the cafeteria after the live auction to pick-up your winnings. Otherwise, you will need to return to redemption in Classroom 3B to pay and then proceed to the
auction pick-up tables in the cafeteria to collect your
items.
For the handbag table you will be bidding on handbags
that range in size and value. Along with the handbags
will be a mystery item that could value anywhere from
$17 to $250. You will bid on the handbag of your
choice keeping in mind that the item that comes with it
could be worth up to an additional $250. Once this
table closes, a list will be posted as to what mystery
items were in each handbag.
FOR TAX DEDUCTIONS
The amount of your contribution that is deductible for
federal income tax purposes is generally limited to the
amount of money you have contributed over the value
of the goods/services received. The prices of the dinner and auction ticket as well as raffle tickets are nondeductible; however, please consult with your tax advisor. If you pre-swiped to avoid the check-out line at the
end of the event, a receipt will be mailed or sent via
backpack for those with children in the school.
NOTE: In the event of a tie, the parties with the tied
bids will be given one last chance to submit a silent bid.
The table closers will call the tied names over the microphone. If you do not return within one minute, you
forfeit and the other party wins the tie without raising
the bid. The higher/highest of these silent bids is the
new winner.
PROHIBITION PULL
The Prohibition Pull will offer a roaming raffle with
corks and a code sold for $20. These corks will corresponds to a bottle of liquor valued anywhere from $20
to $95.
LIVE AUCTION
The Live Auction will start at approximately 8:30 p.m.
During our live auction, customary rules of auction
apply. To bid, raise your paddle high. The bidding will
be fast and furious; don’t be left out! All calls and rulings by the auctioneer are final and conclusive.
TIP
Tipping the bartenders and coat check is optional. All
tips will be donated to Fund-a-Need. For your convenience, tip jars will be provided at the bar for your cash
tips.
ABSENTEE BIDS
If you cannot join us at the auction, but would like to
bid on any item(s), please e-mail your bids before noon
on 4/17 to [email protected]. Your bid
should include the amount and item number in the email. Your bid will be offered in your absence and you
will be notified if you are the winning bidder.
LATE ARRIVALS
Some donors surprise us with last-minute donations.
Any items received after the printing of this catalog will
be displayed on the Speakeasy Table and will be listed
in the addendum printed on the day of the auction.
